In this case, it's the Bills' schedule. Not impressive. Sure they beat the top team in each conference, that's really great, but look at the rest: Cardinals (W) currently 7-7 Dolphins (W) 6-8 Jags (W) 3-11 Ravens (L) 9-5 Texans (L) 9-5 Jets (W) 4-10 Titans (W) 3-11 Seahawks (W) 8-6 Dolphins (W) 6-8 Colts (W) 6-8 Chiefs (W) 13-1 49ers (W) 6-8 Rams (L) 8-6 Lions (W) 12-2 Teams currently above .500 are in bold. Against them the Bills are 3-3, and in the losses it was only the Rams game where Josh played well. In fact Josh's poor play (completing 9 out of 30 passes) was really the reason the Bills lost to the Texans. That game was a wakeup for Josh. He stopped trying to connect downfield all the time, and turned into smart and deadly Josh. You can only play the teams on your schedule, and the Bills and Josh deserve great credit for winning all the games they've won. Even mediocre teams have some good players and coaches. But still, just 3-3 against teams with winning records is not impressive. You have to look at when they beat or lost to a team, where the game was played and what kind of football they were playing. Take the loss to the LA Rams. Doesn't look great losing to an 8 - 6 team but the Rams have gone 7 - 2 in their last 9 games. They are playing great football. And the Bills wins over those two top teams happened when they were 9 - 0 and 12 - 1. If this were college football those two wins alone would be rated as "elite". 1 Quote

When you vote a guy the MVP two times and he falls flat on his face in the playoffs you start to feel like he doesn't get one again until after the season he's had playoff success. 1 Quote
Danger Mouse Posted December 16 Posted December 16 I'm a little bit worried that coaches are going to realise the only way to stop him is hurt him. I think Romo alluded to it last night but wouldn't say it out loud. 1 Quote

I was reading on the Lions message board than they “needed to put some hits on him early” to try to “put him off his game” …the inference being playing dirty, and if he was actually put out of the game that might have been ok too… He is a tough guy but still , it’s a worry in a do or die game …they are not winning any big game without him…. I think designed run plays should be definitely put on hold outside QB sneaks from the 1 rest of the season… 1 Quote

I think they have to let Josh be Josh, no matter the scenario. Quote
Warcodered Posted December 17 Posted December 17 (edited) I'd say he's definitely getting it, Acho a voter basically said that if he had down games and lost 2 of the next 3 then the MVP would be close and Lamar and Barkley would be neck and neck with him. So unless Josh gets lost and can't find the Stadium I don't see it happening. Edited December 17 by Warcodered 1 Quote
zow2 Posted December 17 Posted December 17 Voters can’t just say that it’s over, that would taint the award. But Barkley has not done anything great the past couple games and Josh just had a 4 game stat line for the ages and went 3-1 vs good teams not cream puffs. Its over. and Lamar is not getting a 3rd MVP from these voters until he proves he can win some playoff games. He was gifted the award last season largely based on team record. Quote

Philly still won against a playoff team even though he only had 65 rushing yards, so they didn't need him to win. I think that really hurts (pun intended) his MVP stock. 1 Quote
Goin Breakdown Posted December 17 Posted December 17 So sounds like Josh is the MVP unless....next week. And then Josh is the MVP unless.....next week. Really sonic the Bills were to lose a game (yeah it would suck) Josh wouldn't be MVP anymore. Idk. He's either been special or he hasn't. This is like when I was dating my now wife and she didn't want anyone to know (yet). We're together but...... Quote

Barkley wasn’t even in the game multiple times when the Eagles were at the goal line yesterday. They can score just as easily or better with Hurts there, and have other options as well. Does that sound like a MVP? Meanwhile, we’re probably one of the best red zone teams in the league, but it’s all because of the various threats that Josh poses. Quote

Even more curious as to why there isn’t any transparency who the voters select. After the winner is announced it should become public knowledge who their selections were. 1 Quote
