Pretty much a requirement that you have to be on one of the best teams in the conference to win. Right. The case for Lamar only works if they win out, get the 2 or at worst 3 seed, and Lamar looks incredible doing it. Even then I think Lamar would be an underdog. 1 Quote

But with the signature lateral play last night, if the Bills come close to winning out, he gets it. I was just going post something what you said. If the Bills win the Superbowl it's almost impossible Josh wouldn't be the MVP. That is by far what I want the most! Josh is on our team, we know how great & valuable he is! That's all I care about! The Lamar homers have been pretty quiet on twitter after this weekend. At least the ones I usually see. Some still hanging in there claiming Josh didnt do anything and only had 148 yards. lol Only 148 yards in a damn blizzard and sitting an entire quarter almost AGAIN. I actually don’t care about the SB MVP, just win the SB… I don’t care if Allen hands it off 33 times to Cook and they win that way. I don’t care about league MVP personally, but I’d like Allen to get what he’s deserved for him and his legacy. 1 Quote

It's been at least 5 times: 4 large leads, 1 insurmountable deficit. While Josh has not missed a game, he has probably missed 60 min of playing time. And when he is playing late in the 4th, the team is often in cruise control and looking to run out the clock. 1 1 Quote

Complete actual "garbage time" in the NFL is rare, teams usually don't pull starters unless they are down 4 scores with less than 12 minutes left or 3 scores with less then 4 minutes left. The Bills have had however a lot of time where they are griding out the clock and not playing pass heavy late in games. If I had to guess if you were to combine the true garbage time and the time the Bills spend grinding out the clock where Josh is taking snaps but in a passing deflated time frame I would say you easily surpass 60 minutes. 1 Quote

Richard Noggin Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Whatever continues to push Josh Allen and his teammates towards ending the season with a win. If it's an NFL MVP award, so be it. If it's getting snubbed for that same award, also fine with me. There is only one goal for the remainder of Allen's career, and that is winning championships. The rest is important to the guys in most cases (contract accelerators, FA values, etc.), but still only secondary, tertiary, quaternary, and so on when compared to team success. That also gets people paid (on the roster, the coaching staff, and in the front office). Quote

Last night he goes (QBR) 95.3 and (Rating) 141.3. He has 5 ints where 3 were the fault of his receivers. Other than Barkley going off for 180 yards per game the rest of the season, Josh is finally winning a long overdue MVP. 1 Quote
Alphadawg7 Posted December 3 Posted December 3 MVP race will be decided on December 15th when the Bills face Detroit. Josh and the Bills win that game, he is a lock. We lose and Josh has a bad game like the Ravens game, or worse an atrocious game like the Texans game, then there will not be enough time for him to save him MVP candidacy. Bills need to show we can beat over .500 teams as well as we beat under .500 teams. We can lose that game and Josh still win MVP, but it would need to be a game where Allen plays great and we lose the game elsewhere like on defense. 2 Quote
Buffalo Ballin Posted December 3 Posted December 3 It's time for Josh Allen to win NFL League MVP. It's time. This was supposed to be rebuild year. Whodathunk that we would be a contender at a possible 11-2 record? Maybe 12-2 record by beating Detroit Lions? If we beat Rams AND Lions...hand the League MVP to Josh Allen...PLEASE. Quote
PrimeTime101 Posted December 3 Posted December 3 I think JA MVP is a lock. When you get the betting odds in the - collum... game over. Quote

But it's about team success as well. If the Bills win 13-14 games and Allen continues to have good numbers I just can't believe they would decide to give it to a RB. Usually a RB-WR gets offensive player of the year. I heard the best argument on a sports show this morning. If you took Barkley off the Eagles they still have a good team. They have a similar record as last year too. He's having an amazing season but how many fewer wins would the Eagles have?. If you take Allen off the Bills they have 5 wins. But just for selfishness, the greatness Allen has shown over the past 5 years... to get past over when it's finally his moment would be a gut punch. Stats always factor into the MVP conversation. But it really comes down to the narrative created by the sports media. Allen's biggest problem in 2023 was that his worst games all came during Primetime with everyone watching. It started the Week 1 opener with three interceptions against the Jets on Monday Night. A month later, the offense struggled horribly and we almost lost to the Giants on Sunday Night. Finally that messy Monday Night loss to the Broncos, where he had three more turnovers. By the time the Bills rallied and turned the season around, the story about Allen had become his turnovers. This year, the Bills are undefeated in Primetime with three blowout wins in front of a national audience. Allen isn't turning the ball over. Plus he's had two HUGE eyebrow raising plays down the stretch, against last year's Super Bowl teams. That is why he's considered the leader. It's not in the bag for #17. There are still five games left for the narrative to shift again. His performance against the Lions is going to be huge. It needs to be something that really sticks in people's minds. Because Barkley ends the season against the Giants. If he breaks the rushing record against his old team, and the Eagles get the #1 seed in the NFC... there is going to be a huge push for him to get it. Trust me. 1 Quote
Danger Mouse Posted December 3 Posted December 3 I think Allen is easily my favourite sportsman in any sport in any era. The man’s a millionaire with the perfect life - yet I would love for him to have it all. You just want good things for this kid. He’s a breath of fresh air in a world of Andrew Tates. I need him to win a superbowl if for no other reason than for him to feature in an ‘america’s team’ doc. A first class example of what young men should aspire to. Strength, humour, humility, talent, leadership. He’s got it all. Quote

Great post, mostly spot on except Allen did lose the one primetime game against the Ravens. But that aside, he’d still win MVP as of today. I agree the Barkley narrative will likely continue to get stronger. Aside from the Steelers, he’ll be facing some of the worst rush defenses in the league the rest of the way. As long as he doesn’t get injured, he’s probably got a really good shot at passing Dickerson’s rushing record. If that happens, Josh will also need to have closed really well, in order to hold off any narrative in favor of Saquon, although that may still not be enough. Quote
