Very good look for Buffalo to the rest of the nation.

I'm having people who I didn't think pay attention to football compliment the Bills to me after the game. Everyone watched it.

It'll be interesting on Thanksgiving moving forward if they ever say screw it the Lions and Cowboys aren't guaranteed to play home games on that day and can get flexed out.  Nobody wants to watch Tommy Devito vs. Cooper Rush while eating turkey.  Not even their families.

Yea I normally cook during the Detroit game and eat during the Dallas game. Will be swapping that around this year. Late dinner I think 😆

The days of the NFL blue bloods are pretty much over.  People aren't going to tune in for the Cowboys and Raiders just because they are National brands.  People want to see the best teams and the best players.   The Bills with Allen have been a great TV watch for 5+ years now and have attracted more fans.

The delay shouldn't impact warming a tin of beans and putting some bread in the toaster.

Hahahaha. I feel insulted! Although Lidl are charging £13 for a turkey crown which is nuts.

I think everyone likes him, but the narratives on him have been so bad the last 7 years that they’re hesitant to openly say he’s awesome.

A Super Bowl win would be enough for people to admit it.

The narrative was that,  until this season, he turned the ball over too much.  Which was true.

I mean I also think that was a great football game.

Remember when that wild Chiefs - Rams game was being lauded as the best game ever... was it 54-51... ? I said man that is not my idea of a great football game.

The best games are those 30-21 or 34-27 type games. When every drive feels like it ends in a touchdown... meh.  Not enough jeopardy. That Sunday was a true battle between offense and defense, a fascinating strategy battle between two excellent coaching staffs and two all world QBs who were prevented from playing perfect but who each made 4 or 5 incredible plays over the course of the game. It had jeopardy, drama, lead changes and some great football plays.

Maybe I only feel this way because we won - but actually I was saying it in the GDT at half time - that was my favourite Bills - Chiefs game of the rivalry. I loved it.

It's why I think the Bills/Chiefs divisional game is the greatest game ever.  It had that "every drive matters" back and forth for the first 3 quarters, and then in Q4 it was the ascension of the two best players on the planet - Allen and Mahomes.  Dialed in, flawless play.

Why weren’t there more?  There are considerably more eyes in 2024 than there were in 2007.  Is it just fewer people watching TV now?  Is it that the matchup in 2007 was between two undefeated teams?

Flexing a Thanksgiving game will likely screw a lot of fans who bought airline tickets, game tickets and hotel rooms at one of the biggest travel periods of the year with new game fans even more but that is not as important as TV ratings.   You should be working in NFL office.

I don't think Allen vs Mahomes has quite risen to the level of Brady vs Manning, but it is certainly on the way. If Allen wins a superbowl, it will get there for sure.

But for the current NFL, Allen vs Mahomes is the best matchup to watch and it isn't even close. And after last week, it got even bigger. That was a darn good game to watch. If they face each other again in the playoffs this year, that game will break all the records.

Yes.  Less people own cable.  Easier to track.  Overall, more eye balls watched Bills KC.  CBS tracked slightly less the 07.  This is the reality.  Allen and Mahomes is the best current rivalry in sports.  Both play very good vs each other.

How is it not?  Most games vs a non divisional opponent in a few year span since Colts Patriots.

Because I think Brady vs Manning had more mystique and draw at the time than Allen vs Mahomes currently does. Allen still has a lot of doubters. If he wins a superbowl, there will be no more doubters and the Allen vs Mahomes games will have risen to the same level as Brady vs Manning. From a national perspective. That's my opinion.

I remember back when the Aikman, Kelly, Marino, Young, Montana, Elway QB group retired there was a lot of talk about the league sort of being in a QB drought, without the marquee names to make the games seem bigger.

Then along came Manning and Brady with Big Ben and Rivers and the league had the next generation of superstars to drive rivalries and ratings.

The Big Ben vs Manning or Brady games were a fun undercard, but the heavyweight matchup was Brady vs Manning in the playoffs.

I think that's where we are now. There are a lot of great teams and great players, but Mahomes vs Allen in the playoffs is the one everyone wants to see. It's also a lot more even at 4-4 overall.

Regular Season Allen 4-1

Playoffs Mahomes 3-0

Manning won the playoffs matchup series with Brady 3-2, although Brady dominated the regular season matchups.

There's a lot of similarities, and we're in the early stages still of this rivalry.

Yes, but why that narrative, repeated ad nauseum even by Bills fans, never paired with his scoring far more touchdowns than everyone else? He's had 189 TDs since 2020 vs. 62 interceptions. Mahomes has 167 TDs in the same period vs. 56 interception. So 22 more TDs than "the best player in the league" and just 6 more interceptions, yet he's a turnover machine, not a touchdown machine.

Bias anyone?

Man, 90s football was amazing. And the 2000s era was great as well. I don't think the current era is as good, but at least we have Allen and Mahomes. They will go down as all time greats. I think there are a lot more good QBs today, but fewer of those slam dunk great QBs.

Beside some blowhards on TV and on X/ twitter they are the widely viewed as the best and most entertaining Qbs in football.  People forget how load it was around Manning before he won a Superbowl.

If you missed all of the positive coverage of Allen over the years,  that's your problem.

Like many,  I think you're looking for a reason to get upset with national coverage.

It's a very buffalo thing to do.

I'm gonna take a wild guess that Mahomes 3 Super Bowl wins might have something to do with him not getting the same criticism.

I agree that they are the best right now. But I don't think they have risen to Manning vs Brady levels yet.

Yeah, I agree that Manning had to win a superbowl for the matchup to really rise to the level that it did. Just like I think Allen has to do the same thing.

That sort of stuck with Manning too.. "Yeah, but he can't win the big one/can't beat Brady!"

4 SB appearances (2 with each team)

2-2 in the SB (1-1 with each team)

Manning went to the SB with 4 different head coaches: Dungy, Caldwell, Fox, Kubiak

3-2 record against Brady in the playoffs

Some (ignorant) people still say Peyton couldn't win the big ones though!" because Brady dominated the regular season matchups, especially early on.

Getting to the SB with Jim Caldwell, John Fox and Gary Kubiak as your head coaches is a feat in and of itself. Dungy was a good one. But the other 3? When did they accomplish anything of note before or after as HC?

Mahomes/Allen is similar in some ways, but also its own storyline, as all great rivalries will be.

So far, Allen has owned the regular season matchups, whereas Mahomes has the playoff wins and the rings.
