Long time bottom feeder franchises are like leopards.  They don't change their spots.  The only way for these franchises to become winning football teams is regime change from the top down.  That means new ownership as well as the removal any left over major decision makers remaining in the organization.  Changing GMs, HCs, and players might get a winning season or two or even a WC game every decade or so, but there's no real sustained improvement because the way the organization is run isn't conducive to building a winning football team.

 

Three examples:  Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and Washington Commanders.

The decision to trade for D. Adams was brutal.  Jets were 2 -4, had already fired their coach and didn't have a quality QB on their roster.  Tyrod is past his prime. But they do have some young talent.    That's exactly the type of team that  should be cleansing the locker room of over-priced over-the-hill divas, not bringing in new one.

 

Not sure if that trade decision was Woody Johnson or the GM.  But if Douglas recommended trading for Adams, that's a last straw fireable offense.

As I said in another thread, I think firing the GM signals that the franchise is planning to tank the rest of the season to put themselves in position to draft a quarterback.  If they lose out, the Jets could potentially end up with the second pick, or maybe even number 1 if Carolina does something stupid, like trying to win the rest of their games.  They simply can't go into next season with Rodgers...

well,  im going to say the same thing about Douglas as i did Saleh.  hes probably happy to be out of there.  he still gets paid,  doesnt have to put up with this garbage anymore,  and the Jets look like a joke being led by clowns so his rep will probably be fine around the league.  cant fire Rodgers,  cant fire the owner,  gotta blame this fiasco on somebody.   im betting theres a bunch of really good players that would like out as well.

Gm, coach qb, everything else falls in line. See lions, chargers, bills. Commanders changed owners but really it was just the qb as he’s succeeding with past players. Not sure when they changed gms. 
 

adding in bengals. Got the qb made the Super Bowl. Terrible owner

But Douglas has his defenders here on TSW.

 

Afterall........he picked the incredible Breece Hall.

 

 There were about a half dozen people on TSW who were irate about how the Jets got him instead of the Bills and how regret would follow.

 

I mean, it's literally the easiest or second easiest position to find talent at (safety being the other) and they were desperate for OL help and goes to Arby's with a near 1st round pick.   

 

That pick eased my mind about his potential as a GM.

Thanks to the lovely minority population in this country, they probably WILL have a new owner in 2025, screwing the Bills over.
