Maybe they'll just fully turn over GM duties to Rodgers, they were basically bringing in everyone he wanted anyway.

They already did that. Double was quiet fired for some time, but the Jets found out that potential GM candidates won't talk to them when they still have a GM on staff

Let’s see what role he gets in Green Bay

He was apparently already looking at real estate in Baltimore like a week ago

This is a stupid move for the Jets and a good one for the rest of the division.   QB issues aside,  their front office had finally done a good job of putting together a reasonably talented roster and I don't think it was just by accident.

How will that help?  They've whiffed on 3 top five QBs in the last 15 years: Sanchez (2009), Darnold (2018), and Wilson (2021) plus a 2nd rounder in 2013 (Smith).  Smith and Darnold have gone on to become decent starting QBs, which is only more embarrassing because both looked like something nasty you don't want to step in when with the Jests.

Chistian Hackenberg in 2nd round also

Makes sense to me.  Why not now?  This shows they are not planning to use Rodgers next year.  No way they would hire a new GM and force them and their new head coach he brings in to deal with Aaron.

There's not much for a GM to do between now and end of season but they will want the new GM and HC in place soon into post season to prepare for draft.

Jets are full rebuild now.

I apologize if someone already mentioned this... but didn't Woody say this was the most talented roster since he owned the Jets?

Update: I asked Perplexity the same question...

Yes, Woody Johnson did state earlier this season that the current New York Jets roster is "one of the most talented teams that has ever been assembled by the New York Jets." He made this remark on October 8, 2024, emphasizing his belief in the team's potential under general manager Joe Douglas.

Why do you fire the guy who built you such a talented team?  Maybe it's not so talented after all?

I guess Aaron Rodgers will be back next season... as GM😎

Rodgers says he'll continue quarterbacking the team next season if, as the new GM, he also gets to choose the new HC and OC.

They are going to have trouble defending their 2-time offseason championships. No three peat this offseason.

I alwasy thought of Douglas like Whaley. Whaley brought in great talent, but never built a good roster and was horrible with the most important picks. HC and QB

Whaley was the GM when we hired McDermott.  Oversaw the draft that got us Tre, Dion, and Milano as well.  But I still prefer Beane, LOL
