How worried should we be about Detroit?   I don't want to get way too far ahead of myself, but imagine meeting them in the SB.    They've certainly shown the league a LOT of offense.  I'd think most of their playbook is out, whereas I think Brady hasn't shown anything yet, with all systems go in terms of having all our WR out and running.

How do we match up?

I'm more worried, as I've said before, about their turf.

4th actually by netEPA/play

2nd by the nfelo model tho

If you look how they do the tiers, the Bills are 2nd because of their combo of offensive and defensive EPA.

We're also second to the Lions according to ELO...

You can sort them by EPA/play, it's at the far right of the headings

I dunno but we will get a preview before then. I think Detroit is a great team but I don't have faith in Goff.  He gets rattled under pressure. They do have a good run game though. Personally, I think they are a bit overhyped. Sure, they completely blow out weak teams, but good teams have played them close and they barely escape. They have a soft schedule. Its like what Miami was doing when they got all the hype.

Right.  The Atlantic's sports coverage focuses strictly on the carbon footprint of each team.

The NFC just doesn’t have any marquee matchups now that the niners aren’t what they once were.  Lions don’t play chiefs or eagles or ravens, haven’t played the bills yet, got the Texans whose offense was completely suspect missing Nico and diggs.

maybe Vikings lions was a big game? I don’t even know

But his arm is still elite and Sunday's win at New England was a quality start for Stafford.

Strange that a fetish porn service ranks the NFL teams.

IDK Scott, as Goff has been underrated for a long time, but yet keeps winning.

As far as the power rankings, I never get too excited or rattled as to the numbers.  Late in the year, I’ll passingly take a glance.  It looks like most of the different ones peg the Bills as 2nd or 3rd.

At the end of the day, the only ranking that matters to me is the seeding for the playoffs.

Goff has had a great season, is in the MVP conversation, and has been flawless at times with 2 consecutive games with a perfect passer rating.

But what QB throws 5 ints in a game like Goff did last week?

That would make me a bit nervous if I was a Lions fan... especially against a Bills D whose coverages are notoriously difficult to figure out.

lol stopgap? Like who?

Purdy is 6th in passing yards, 6th in QBR, has as many TDs as Herbert, more than Daniel’s/Hurts/Geno/Stroud/Murray.  Tell us who you would bring in who is already better than that?

McCaffrey has played 2 games, Deebo, Kittles and Aiyuk have all missed games.  Their Defense is mediocre.

Purdy is hardly their problem.

Purdy could walk on water and people would say he can’t swim. Purdy has been awesome since he stepped into the lineup

Then there's the gifted football minds. Shanny Jr, McVay, McDaniels, Flores. They have track records of good success as playcallers or play-designers, but their results vary if they are terrible leaders. Flores and McDaniels both can coach, at a high level, but their players inevitably hate them and things go sideways.

The perfect fit of culture-setter and X's and O's is really rare. Those are usually HoFers. Reid, BB, Walsh etc etc.

I think almost all Bills' fans on this board would define McDermott as a "gifted football mind".

Year after year he takes every Bill team and makes them better and better and better... no mater what obstacles are put in their way, and turns them into a championship contender.

Just like he is doing, again, this year.

Have you watched this team play the last five years?

He undermines the best offenses in the league no matter the injuries or circumstances. And molds this team into championship contenders almost every year.

If Campbell does this for the next few years, then he may be placed in the same category as McDermott.  Just because he acts like a truck driver does not mean Campbell may not be a gifted football mind. Outward appearances often lead people astray in their thoughts.  You gotta start looking beyond the most superficial details to analyze effectively...

To almost every Bills' fan, McDermott has an amazing football mind.

Most Bills/NFL fans don't have a clue as to what constitutes a great coach.  All they see is a lost ball game, and yell fire the coach.

We are BLESSED to have this coach.  What he's been able to accomplish on defense is down right amazing.  He's usually working with second and sometimes third stringers.  He's about as good as a coach as you can ask for.   The hate is INSANE.

Not sure I agree with this.

The 2023 Chiefs had their fifth best game of the year vs McD in the postseason by EP on offense.

The 2022 Bengals had their third best game of the year in the postseason vs McD.

the 2021 Chiefs again, also 3rd best game in the postseason.

The 2020 Chiefs had their best game of the year in the AFCCG against the Bills.

Really what would say is that McD molds the team and defense pretty well except in the last game of the year in the playoffs. I don’t think any of those teams were particularly undermined on offense.
