I went back and looked at Aubrey’s stats (didn’t break down dome v. outdoors).  Folks are correct. He’s not automatic. He missed extra points last year and a few missed FG this year. The crazy stat is how good he is outside of 50 (20 out of 21 is insane).  This thread is hypothetical because Cowboys aren’t going to give him up unless they receive a crazy offer and neither the Bills nor anybody else are going to make a crazy offer for a kicker.

He doesn't have as many misses as Bass.

Aubrey has 2 misses this year (and one block). 10 FGs made from 50+ yards

Bass has 7 misses (3 FGs and 4 PAT).  2 FGs made from 50+ yards

Not to mention Bass had one of the worst playoff meltdowns ever last season.

I'd gladly give up a 4th for Aubrey, but doubt the Cowboys would take it.

I was looking at FG only.  Yes Bass has more PAT misses.  Again for aubrey indoors.  He was a UDFA.  If you trust your ability to scout well enough to invest a 4th, why not just get one in the draft.  If you dont trust your ability to scout, why do you think an indoor kicker in the NFL can do it outdoors?  Theres too many unknowns to be sure.  Heres the cake for me.  Cause Aubrey is doing great things, but in favorable conditions.  He hes 86% for FG.  Hes 82.5% outdoors which is the same as bass outdoors (82.5%).  Its not worth a 4th yall

Not saying Dallas would be interested but they sure as heck need draft capital. What would you be willing to give up for a kicker who makes 60 yard field goals like extra points?  I’d give up a fourth in a heartbeat. If we had a third, I’d give up a third. What say you?

Jerry Jones should just give him to Bills for all the money he is earning from Pegulas.

People gotta look at the outdoor splits (i know one is a block) but hes worse than T bass outdoors on XP.  its not 100% translatable (this is before we get into questions around the whole operation, LS and holder).

these kickers have so many ups and downs. Wouldn’t surprise me if he suddenly gets the yips in a season or two, just like Bass.

They all have big legs. It’s what’s between their ears that decides their success, and that can be fragile, just like golfers.

Did you try to look up the actual stats or are you spouting off based on gut-feel?

Bass 28/32

Aubrey 10/10

So he’s 19-23 outdoors, if I’m correct. 7-8 from 50+. Nailed a 66 yarder in Cleveland, but a false start took it away.

Has had two kicks blocked. I know a blocked kick is a blocked kick, but I don’t think they’re all created equal. I don’t blame Denver’s kicker for the block against Kansas City, and Washington’s block on Aubrey was the exact same overload strategy, and Dallas’ blocking was even more egregious than Denver’s. The guy pretty much took it off Aubrey’s foot. the Steelers block was pretty much the Steelers being the Steelers. Defender got up about 10 feet and his hand happened to be in the right place, which is what the Steelers do 🤷‍♂️. Wasn’t an “indoor/outdoor” situation.

Now explain XP % indoor and outdoor?  Point is that it’s not as simple as what he’s doing in Dallas would immediately translate to us.

We’ll draft one next year.  We still have 10 picks and can develop a 6th RD pick.  I don’t believe we have a 7th, but two 6ths.  We also have half our draft picks. In the first four rds as long as we get the comp pick.

Thats the easy solution.  We can really add to our depth in this draft, we’ve eaten so much of the dead cap so far, amd can afford to extend the guys we need to maintain continuity.

Lol I’m not a dancing monkey, was just adding context to a post specifically about field goals. I’ve usually found that if I’m gonna ask something of someone else, I should first ask myself if I’m capable of doing it instead.

If all things were settled with Bass I’d honestly give up a 3rd but I think the Cowboys would tell the Bills to take a hike

I'm floored by this take. You think a marginally better kicker upgrade would be as impactful as Amari Cooper? Because that's kind of what you're saying.

It’s not marginal, Aubrey is arguably the top kicker in the game. He has  a strong and incredibly accurate leg.

Kickers have huge impacts on games good or bad. McPherson makes a kick they win. Tucker doesn’t miss twice they win

i also said if all things Bass were out of the way like he was a Free Agent or had no dead cap so I’m not advocating for us trading for Aubrey and releasing Bass just saying if everything was aligned right in the world

Was more of a joke that came off a bit snarky.  No sweat.  Is aubrey a better kicker than Bass?  I think yes.  But I dont think difference is large (and certain) enough to justify a 4th round.  If you could guarantee aubrey's overall numbers continue to Buffalo, it makes it much more favorable.

As much as I'd love Aubrey to replace Bass, a 3rd or 4th is too rich.  You can get a quality college kicker in the 6th or look at FA.  I'm drafting Ryan Fitzgerald (Fitz 2.0) from Florida St.  He's 100% and 5-5 from beyond 50. With his longest kick 59.  Use our 3rd or 4th on WR/DE.
