That seems pretty simple to me.

The people who say it is for maintaining their lifestyle come off as simple as well.

nah, this is old news.

"Kim Pegula’s video presentation included a rundown of organizational objectives. One particular slide, titled “Pegula Family Goals,” shook executives and lower-level employees alike. A handout version of the slide, obtained and verified by The Athletic, listed the Pegulas’ three chief objectives: win championships, sustainability, return on investment....Terry and Kim Pegula, meanwhile, have paused construction of their new superyacht in Amsterdam."

I give them credit for being up front about it with their employees though (if not the public, at the time).

Is it simply a matter of Pegs getting some cash equity pulled out of the team into his pocket? More liquidity? I’m trying to figure out Pegula motivation?

Pegula purchased for $1.4 billion. Today’s value $4.2 billion, according to Forbes. This represents a gain of about $2.8 billion, or a 200% increase in value over the past decade.

what is pegs motivation?

That money is all unrealized gains until he sells the team, which would be the end of the Bills in Buffalo.  Doing this gets him cash in his pocket for effectively nothing.

Assuming the NHL -- who owned the Sabres after the Bankruptcy to keep them in Buffalo -- and the NFL -- original AFL team owned forever previously by a historic league founder in Ralph Wilson -- would allow either team to move to another city.

I would say the historical evidence is that neither league would allow that.

Therefore the team is worth what it is and is as profitable as it is only in Buffalo.

An imaginary Bills and Sabres in another city other than Buffalo is a simply a straw man argument.

LOL, keep telling yourself that. The NFL let the Browns leave Cleveland. And the Sabres were worth $92MM when Tom Golisano bought them from the NHL. They're worth $1.15B today. They'd be worth twice that in Houston or Atlanta.

Multi national corporations all over the world can buy the luxury suites needed for economic support. Gone are the days of just a local economy giving the necessary financial support for a sports team.

Add in the prohibitive costs to move from the local, state, and the cost of a new stadium etc. it's just not happening.

If they weren't building a new stadium sure I would be concerned

The NFL got insane backlash for letting the browns leave. You don't do that to your most loyal fans. And they came back in a few years.

Idk, you ever try delivering pizza without a GPS?

We didn't even have cell phones, just a phone on the wall, an address and a city map. It's just the exhausting and never ending bombardment of information and just plain noise. I'm close to pulling up chocks and going out west...

Quit thinking about it and do it.

Your quality of life will instantly improve, imo.

But that's only irrelevant for tax purposes because of the election outcome.  Harris pledged to tax unrealized capital gains upon her election.  That would have been fascinating to watch.

My mom and sisters moved out to Colorado years ago but we didn't follow suit. Now we're looking at New Mexico because there is a large Air Force Base there for all we need.

I am extremely disappointed that it is so expensive just to live in eastern Washington where my grandparents lived.... outrageous housing costs and more expensive than Santa Fe or Albuquerque, and it is in the middle of wheat fields and off the Columbia River. I remember riding with my grandfather back in 1979 messing with his CB, but those days are just so much in the past it is fading away and it sucks. He worked the Saint Lawrence Seaway project and the Niagara Falls Power Project in the 50s and 60s before they went back to Washington.

no chance.  that would put them at #8 in valuation in cities that have no interest in pro hockey.

Maybe someone else puts their plans for a 32’ Boston Whaler on hold. It’s all relative.
