Getting to 5 championships is the argument that analysts on shows make. You’re making the assumption that I agree with that. One of the greatest attribute Brady had was longevity. I don’t think that will ever be surpassed and it’s an achievement that should not be taken lightly imo.

Yes we have discussed this before about qb’s getting judged on championships. It does take a whole team to win one obviously. But if you draw up a pie of responsibility the qb would get a big chunk of that in today’s NFL. That’s why they get paid the way they do. A scenario with Trent Dilfer be a winning sb qb on a team that’s led by a dominant defense isn’t going to happen because of all the rules changes. It’s so tilted in the offense’s favor.

If you don’t want to count SB wins as a qb stat then you’re really just leaving it up to subjective preferences. It’s a team game with team goals. The leader, qb, should be judged on team accomplishments. Same as corporate leaders if a company does or doesn’t do well.

A good way to phrase it is, ring counting to rank QBs in the NFL is flawed, but you also probably need a couple to help your argument with ranking.

You can't just pretend winning a super bowl is not largely a QBs responsibility ( however you want to slice it). There's a reason the super bowl and conference championship games usually have the best QBs.

Super bowl wins have weight, but it's probably a bit overvalued in football.

But to just dismiss it as a Bills fan in the context of ranking mahomes vs Allen, it's just a cope from bills fans. I'm guilty of it, it sucks and is flawed but it's also not nothing.

Allen has to beat mahomes in the playoffs and win the championship. He doesn't need as many rings as mahomes, that's silly. But he has to win a championship. It's a right of passage every all time great has to go through.

I think titles factor in. But I still consider Marino one of the best.

It's less than 50% of the consideration.  Sometimes, great QB's just don't end up in great situations.

You're denying that the vast majority of analysts think Mahomes is the best QB in the league?

Weird that every program I turn on is discussing his case for GOAT. You should let them know that he's not even the best currently.

Damien woody and rex Ryan and Chris Simms have repeatedly said Allen is the best at times the past few years. Many ppl think Allen is the more talented, better QB. They did an anonymous polling among GMS back in 2020 and like 12 GMS said Allen was just as good as mahomes.... Most analysts worth their salt aren't going to say it out loud until the torch is officially passed

Allen has to win the super bowl and beat mahomes in the playoffs to put serious weight into that opinion. That's the moment ppl are waiting for. It happened already in 13 seconds but McDermott screwed it up.

Don't reply to me about McDermott. I'm over it and have forgiven him.

Yeah we’re definitely on the same page here.

I think presenting hypotheticals is a poor way of looking at these things. It’s better to deal with reality.

Their are arguments in reality right now that say Allen might be slightly better or would give you pause. But nobody is going to fully take it seriously unless it's validated with a ring

Oh, by far, Allen has been the better qb this season up to this point. So has a lot of other qb’s. Career talk is a different topic.

If that’s all there is to it then Montana would never have been considered the top qb during his time.

It's a lot more than just statistics buddy

The eye test shows there's zero gap.. Josh allens team has let him down

There is zero way statistically or just from watching them play that there is a gap in talent level

Sure. It's just something that's almost never called, especially on a WR. First time in Reid's 25 year career and it just happened to wipe out a game-winning TD. Imagine the response had it been the other way around. 😆

But I thought the issue was the fortuitous timing of certain calls. If you'll remember, the KC ref narrative got rolling after the '22 AFCC vs CIN. Do you think knocking a player down two yds out of bounds isn't a penalty?

I love how people say this. "game winning TD." It wasn't a game winning TD. It was a go ahead TD with 1:12 left in the game and the Bills still had all 3 timeouts left. I also doubt that in 25 years Reid has never seen a player called off sides. What does that matter anyways. Dude screwed up. Didnt look at the ref for confirmation. Blame that.

You’re bringing up ‘gap in talent’ into the conversation. Not sure why.

I chuckled at the "game winning TD" claim.

Because at worst their equals

But there is a strong chance in 15 years Josh Allen will be considered the better football player even though he wasn't on a better team for most of his career

Patrick mahomes is not better than Josh and he has not been for years

Is English your 17th language

I'm pretty sure I said Josh Allen's team has let him down and if you trust your eyes there's not a gap in their talent level

Not from a statistical standpoint or from watching them play is there any way Patrick mahomes is better

Even if my phone had a couple grammar errors because I spoke into it it is still far from unintelligible

You're grasping at straws ... You must be a blast at parties , congrats
