WotAGuy Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I heard Bleacher Report has a good article on the Bills’ needs. 2 Quote

Now I know this will irk some but Josh is still a mad man at actively heading towards contact and there’s a litany of events where players don’t take it easy on bringing him down like they do Mahomes, Lamar or some of the other QBs out there. The minute Josh goes down we are screwed. Need someone of even a little quality. Pass rusher and Safety is again probably the only other needs. I’m not against a QB in the 3rd round - a complete luxury pick. It’s much too early for us to start grooming the next QB, but I doubt we’d win many games with what’s behind Josh right now. We’ve been blessed by his durability considering how he plays. I don’t think his style of play will be sustainable once he’s on the other side of 30. 1 Quote
TrentEdwardsCheckDownOn4th Posted November 18 Posted November 18 Von will be released post June 1st and they'll save like 15 Million. I hope they bring in some more free agent pass rushers 1 1 Quote
Warcodered Posted November 18 Posted November 18 I mean technically a WR, Cooper isn't here next year and even if he is he's on the older side, so we do still need someone to be that downfield threat. Maybe Coleman as he continues to grow fills more of that space but it feels like it became clear we had a body missing of another real good WR. 1 Quote

I wonder if you might get a more accurate read on their intent if you look at what their needs might be a couple years down the road. Beane's philosophy is plug all your holes in free agency and then draft BPA. The Bills adhere to that pretty closely. The Bills' own upcoming free agents is the driving force in their off season strategy. Quote

It would be $17.5M but Beane can't spend it until June. I think he's cut in March and frees up $8.4M and off the books with no dead cap in 2026. 1 Quote

Everybody does it sometime, but I get the sense that Beane is pretty forward thinking and doesn't do it as much as other teams. They seem more inclined to fill holes in FA and use draft picks on targets they like as players. 1 hour ago, Logic said: Bail money to get me out of jail after I drunkenly punch a police horse during the Bills' Super Bowl parade. We bring back all 9 olineman and a couple promising guys on the PS RB- Cook and Davis are a nice 1-2 punch. My guess is being back Ty Johnson on a minimum deal and then have Gore compete not much of an investment needed TE- Kincaid and Knox will be back. The question is do we bring Morris back on minimum deal or just promote Davidson from practice squad? Again not much of an investment if any needed. QB- Allen is here and that’s all that matters. They seem to like Mitch they might bring him back on a 2 year minimum type deal but I would like to use one of the day 3 picks to draft a guy who will be here cheap for 4 years. WR- Shakir, Coleman, Samuel are all back. I think a 2-3 year deal for cooper and another 1 year deal for Hollins makes sense. Use a day 3 pick on a wr to develop. If the bills can get cooper back they need to make very little investment in the offense through FA and the draft. on defense this is where I see a lot of high draft picks being used LB- Milano, Bernard, Williams, Spector, Andreson are all under contract. Morrow will likely walk and I could see someone like Dodson returning on a 1 year deal to fill out the depth chart CB- Benford and Johnson are the guys, Elam will be here as will Ingram and Lewis. An investment will need to be made here. The question is will they purse a vet or use an early pick. DL- Groot, epenesa, Oliver, Carter are the young core. Do the move on from miller and jones? Do they bring back smoot? I expect multiple draft picks and possibly a FA or 2 signing. Solomon will also factor in here as depth S- Rapp will be a starter, bishop and Lewis will be here. Do they re-sign Hamlin? Should they? Is Rapp and Bishop the starters with Cine and Lewis the back up? Seems like an investment needs to be made if Hamlin walks thoughts!? See what happens in free agency first. draft priorities are Edge/OLB, CB, OT Quote

So expect all those needs you listed to be addressed. But then we'll still take DE, CB, WR, OT in the draft. That's his MO. Fill all the holes and then let the draft come to you at positions of need. 1 Quote
Virgil Posted November 19 Posted November 19 (edited) Off-Season IMO Besides receiver potentially, I don't see a need to adjust anything. QB - Josh gets a new deal RB - Run it back OL - Run it back TE - Run it back WR - If they want to bring back Cooper, okay. But I don't know if he will take less than 20 mil and will probably want more than a 2 year deal. At his age, I wouldn't give him more than 2 years. Without Cooper, everyone else is under contract, so draft a potential burner. Defense - I'm okay with almost a full defensive draft DL - Extend Groot, draft DE to replace Von. Carter looks good, but Jones is getting older. Draft a DT. I'd be fine if we went DT with our first pick to line up next to Oliver. LB - Depth at both MLB and OLB. Not high picks, but I could see we need support with Bernard's injury history. I'd also use a late rounder on OLB. While we have Williams, Milano could get hurt again and depth is needed DB - I'd be okay with our 1st or 2nd pick being a DB. Douglas could be gone. Benford is our only sure deal. Elam isn't the guy. S - If they see an upgrade for Hamlin, okay, but I could see them running it back. With that being said, no real FA needs besides bringing our own guys back. Josh, Groot while extending Shakir and Benford. Draft: 1st three rounds - DB, DT, DE 4th-7th Round - WR, S, OLB, MLB Edited November 19 by Virgil 2 Quote

OT snd pass rushing OLB are very hard to get outside the top 50. 1 Quote

It will be the same mid-tier talent/signings that Beane does every Free Agency to fill whatever major holes we have. Guys that are smaller dollar but ok "worst case snecarios" if he cant get anything in the draft. We've done it at DE, CB, and WR before, he'll do it again. And he almost always finds someone in the draft as well. 1 Quote

Lieutenant Aldo Raine Posted November 19 Posted November 19 1. Trenches (where games are won and lost) 2. Safeties (can be upgraded) 3. WRs (I still think this room can be much improved) 4. Depth at LBs & DBs Quote
