Beane's done good but he also traded (now pro bowler) Wyatt Teller for 5th and 6th round draft picks... I of those picks ended up being your boy T. Bass and the other was part of the trade for Diggs.

Yes, we can talk about this.

Does Brown get back in immediately? The discipline was insane this week.

Do you really think they should consider benching him?

Love Dion but Franchise QBs can play for a long ass time and it would be lovely to have that next LT lined up already.

Interestingly Offensive Tackle can be a position of longevity too. I can think of many OTs that had long and illustrious careers. Dawkins is 30 years old and has 3 years remaining on his contract after this year, with reasonable cap hits.

Beane also drafted Cody Ford in the 2nd round so like all GMs, he's had his misses.

Still among the top GMs in the league and seemingly getting better.

Torrence has struggled at times and sometimes mightily but he was really good against Kansas City's front particularly against Jones. I said it in the game day thread, I was very surprised they kept lining up Jones on Torrence and not Edwards. He was having much more success against Edwards on the other side. I suspect when we see Kansas City again that they will have Jones lined up much more on Edwards next time. They probably thought they could take advantage of the younger guy and were proven wrong.

As for the topic, Beane has always had a knack for finding guys on the offensive line and he is doing a masterful job. The depth on this roster at offensive line is very impressive and with the dearth of offensive lineman around the league I suspect some of these backups are going to get healthy contracts in the future with other teams. The Colts have to be kicking themselves for giving up on RVD so quickly now that he is having success. I figure Grable is the future at LT now that Spencer Brown is here for the long term.

Beane (and McDermott) are getting better at their jobs.

They don't just preach the growth process, they're doing it.

Now go get that damn Lombardi for once !

One of the best moves McD did was scoop up Kromer.  I hated when we lost him and pleased we got him back.  Now we just have to keep him

Not really. It was more a joke about the lack of penalties.

Why do you say that?

My answer is here. But add to that as a 6th round rookie he actually beat Van Demark out for the swing tackle job in camp despite Vandy having a year in the system. Go back to the inactives those early weeks before Grable was hurt. He was up and Vandy wasn't dressing. We saw what he can do on Sunday when called up on.... and Grable beat that out as a rookie. I think his ceiling is very high indeed.

I had the same question. I had to look him up to be reminded of who he was and where he came from. But seriously, why this Grable love?

A year learning the position and getting up to NFL strength standards will really help, too. Ok, I'm intrigued. As we saw Sunday, Van Demark ain't chopped liver, either. Beane has been backfilling the roster nicely.

What’s the deal with Grable’s injury.  Is it a real injury or a red-shirting.

It's a real injury. Think he tore a stomach muscle on a special teams play vs the Jags.

Yea I like Vandy and he is plenty athletic enough himself. I think he was the favourite for that swing tackle competition going in - on the roster last year, probably a bit ahead of Grable as regards technical refinement, but Grable beat him out. That is no mean feat. They are in great shape for tackle depth IMO. They aren't the youngest, both stayed in school extra time with covid rules etc. Vandy is in year 3 and is 26, Grable is a 25 yr old rookie but they have potential to make the transition from Dion which is coming at some point more painless than it could be. I still say bad left tackles can sink seasons as fast as any other spot except Quarterback.

Aaron Kromer is one of the best O-Line coaches in the NFL. He has been instrumental in this unit growing into what you see today.

Agree with that too. Though I still blame him for forcing me to watch Roger Saffold flub around my tv screen every Sunday for a year.

You mean Pro-Bowler Rodger Saffold? 😉
