I mean great job by Beane, Kromer and the players.

In 2022 season our starting Oline was Dawkins-Saffold-Morse-Bates-Brown and if I remember correctly, it was one of the worst units in the league. Then Beane made all the right decisions - got McGovern, Edwards, drafted Torrence and kept believing in Brown. Last year they were much improved. Then he let go aging Morse, moved McGovern to C, put Edwards to RG and whole line is still performing very well.

People kept saying how he "criminally" neglected WR unit - which was partly true, but there was always an option to trade for someone, which is exactly what he did.

Much less was said about great work he's done with Oline. And good OL > good WR corps if you ask me.

Not to mention there seems to be a good young depth in place with Van Demark, Anderson, Grable and VanPran Granger.

Beane has his misses (Dline investments, some extensions, some draft picks), but he nailed this one. These guys are one of the reasons we are 9-2.

Not to mention the really promising pipeline of young players developing. Van Demark, Anderson, Van Pran-Granger, and Gouraige. All of those guys are developing nicely.

And Grable. Who trust me is the best of the bunch.

I really hope between drafting, scouting and development the Bills can do what the Pats did for ages and just churn great olines year after year in a shrewd and cost efficient way.

I knew I forgot one.

All 9 offensive lineman will be back next year too. We potentially could invest a late rd pick on Oline but in reality we don’t need to touch the position in FA or the draft

He fixed it.  Maybe he should consult with the Sabres about the goalie position.

He’s a GM, not a miracle worker

That "re-sign Bates and sign Saffold" offseason was depressing. I hated it at the time and predictably it failed.

I always liked Bates, personally. But partly it was with the hope that he would grow and develop. I guess that didn't happen.

Shhhhhh...I read on here Beane sucks, doesn't know how to build a team, and can't draft.

the mcgovern FA signing was really key.  morse was a very skilled center, but he got washed in runs and against pass rush vs really physical guys.  having conor come in, win the spot, and anchor the position was the biggest help.  instead of torrence having to maybe move (his weakness) and help him, he can just be a giant hamstring bear and maul the ugly in front of him.

brown is still very up and down, lots of mistakes and penalties, and gets fits sometimes when blocking crafty moves/speed guys, but he also is a silly high level athlete who can run around and make things happen.  if we are all healthy in the playoffs, having him and a healthy coop, coleman, kinkiad, and increasingly samuel in addition to what we've been relying on, some of these failed outside screens and runs might break and get rid of the wasted 1st and 2nd downs we saw last night.

this line reminds me of the old NE lines, individuals didn't get too much credit (i suppose dawkins does for us, in contrast) but as a unit they blocked cohesively and executed their assignments.

the biggest improvement in my mind is how they've handled pressures and simulated pressures.  the baltimore and texans d just shellacked us, and kc was poised to do exactly the same thing given we were so short on firepower, but the big nasties gave 17 ample time, and that's a scary sight.

Should be noted how much Brady is running 5 man protections too.  Hes putting everyone he can into a route which really stresses the OL, but they have responded really well by figuring out the creeper and simulated pressures that were getting free runners on Josh.  Now Josh has time and 5 players running routes without chips on many obvious passing downs.  Just tremendous.

The starters are all very good but the high quality depth is also huge like you point out. OLine is only as strong as the weakest link, don't want to be one injury away from getting easily exploited in Jan/Feb

If they believe in the long-term worth of Van Demark and Anderson, they both will be re-signed on their ERFA contracts.

One-year at vet minimums and then RFAs.  That sets up the OL as the same as this year, like you said.

That's huge!

In 2026 they probably let Edwards go as an UFA (who could bring a decent comp) and decide on McGovern's future at Center.

It's all looking pretty darn good.

Does Brown get back in immediately? The discipline was insane this week.

The run game suffered with him gone.
