Bernard started 1 game in 2022 for Milano. Then they started 5 games together to start 2023, but the Bernard was a raw new starter. The Bernard of today evolved without Milano by his side. In fact, Milano has missed 25 consecutive regular season and playoff games. During those 29 games, Bernard became the QB of the defense. I do have a concern how Bernard and Milano will work together as Milano shakes off nearly 2 seasons worth of rust. This is not a shot at either player, but we don't know how good Milano will be when he returns and Williams has done a very good job in his place. Just watch the video above to see how much Williams has improved in coverage. This post is not to say the Bernard/Milano can't work or won't work, but don't be surprised if it's not "great" immediately. This is all reasonable…that’s why it’s so huge he made it back early and they’ll have some time together going into the playoffs Quote

Too small, too slow. How can he succeed?? 😆 Turning into the best linebacker this team has ever seen. And I am confident in saying that. Quote

Gotta give "waste of a pick" TBD assessment mention to Dorian Williams, who is quietly leading the Bills in both solo (59) and combined (97) tackles, with 5 TFL and 2 QB hits packaged in there. That's 10th in the league, in case anyone was wondering. Is he perfect, no, but for a young guy thrown into the starter role in his 2nd year, he's getting better all the time. While I'm here one more point out. Currently the Bills LB (Williams, Bernard + Spector) are leading the league in tackles. That's what's expected, you say. To which I say, true, but it means something - it means the much-maligned Bills DL, especially the DTs, are actually doing a decent job of keeping the LB clean. Which, was not always the case in 2020 and 2021, when Poyer and Johnson were way up there for tackles. Edited 2 hours ago by Beck Water Quote

What difference to have a smart playmaking LB out there, and not 6'5" freak of nature who is only 18 years old and who loves to injure his own teammates more than opposing players. I can't wait for Milano and Bernard to man the middle together... And I am also happy it's not Edmunds out there. That's all I got Edmunds was a horrible run stuffer and a disruptive force against the pass. And he was healthy. The ONLY reason he still isn't here is because the Bills knew his next contract was going to be a very expensive one so they drafted Bernard, who isn’t all that good against the run and excellent in pass defense. Brand J Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Bernard isn’t the best run defender or tackler, but I’m not sure there’s a better pure coverage linebacker in the league. Also blitzes really well due to his body control and agility. He’s everything we wanted Edmunds to be, in a much smaller frame. 1 Quote

That’s why it’s so ridiculous to label guys after 1 year, I’m glad he got his shot and is proving a lot of people on here wrong So now Bernard’s nick name is Spartacus? Quote
