Josh Allen Punched in the head two weeks in a row

Good no call. He was trying to knock the ball out at the goal line. Of course it is impossible to know intent, but in this case I'd give him teh benefit of doubt. 

Colts player not so much. That was deliberate 3 shots to the head.

At the end of the run 23 punches Josh in the head, why is no one talking about this? The ball is at least a yard into the end zone and nowhere near where Tranquills punch lands. I know the excuse is that he’s punching at the ball, but this is as blatant as last week’s punches. Throwing a punch indiscriminately has to be more than a fine.

It’s fine. Tyson took a bunch of punches and he’s 30 years older.

There is a little better angle of that somewhere. It is being discussed somewhere. We should be talking about the amount of the fine, but I’ve heard nothing about that yet. When are they announced? Maybe they still get it right, albeit after the fact? 🤷‍♂️

I looked for the better angle, couldn’t find it. I saw it on Good Morning Football. They said nothing about the punch.

It’s still not a great angle, but it comes from the other side and it looks like a punch at/under the facemask. If it were more clear I’d consider looking for it, but it’s still iffy. It’s wasn’t three straight punches at the helmet clear as day (like last time).

There's a multipage thread about it, and the talking point is sprinkled through other threads. No worries.

 

He definitely gets punched in the facemask, but it looked to me like the trajectory of the punch goes through the facemask and contacts the ball. Don't get me wrong, it was a BS move because Josh had clearly already scored, but there's at least an argument to avoid a fine.

If you follow the guy, his sole aim was to punch the ball out.  He wasn't running full speed, he was hoping someone would hold Josh up so that he could force a fumble.  Sadly for them, nobody was gonna hold Josh up.

I think he's trying to punch the ball out.  Unfortunate for Josh, and should have been a penalty, but I don't think there was an intent to injure.  Just a guy trying to make a play.

From the angle that the clip in the original post shows, I don't see much more than a futile attempt by a defender to make a play.  I don't see a cheap shot.  Maybe, as some suggest, there's a different angle that shows something else.

They call penalties like that all the time though.  Incidental helmet to helmet contact cause the ballcarrier ducks.

I don’t believe I’ve seen any other QB get slugged in the helmet like that before. Should be brought to the league and player fined, with warnings given to future opponents.

 

But it won’t and is somewhat stupid on these players as they have a greater chance of breaking their hand then injuring Josh.

I have no issue with this. A punch to the face mask is not going to do anything. A punch to the helmet as well. It is nothing compared to the force of collisions produced on the football field.

Agreed. He absolutely was trying to punch it out. He did exactly as he was supposed to do. He's not looking at the goal line either - for all he knows, he's on the half yard line with an opportunity to get the ball for the Chiefs at the 20 yard line down 23-21.

Penalty yes... not called... not at all surprising considering it was the Bills... Kenny Pickett or Cooper Rush gets that flags gonna fly Bills and Josh Allen not so much... gutless punk... not sure it gets to that level. I think he was trying to cause a turnover...
