Josh Allen Punched in the head two weeks in a row

Sorry if there is another thread on this, but I did not see it if there is.

 

I am not sure how many folks caught this, but on his touchdown run the second defender to hit him at the goal line #23 punched him in the head. 

 

It was a glancing shot, but if you carefully watch the video you will see Josh's head snap to his right. 

 

 I think there was some discussion about the Colts defender throwing multiple bunches at Josh and hitting him in the head last week. 

 

This is starting to become a trend that can not continue!

 

I am sure that both players would say they were trying to punch the ball out, but they need to be fined, severely, if they miss and hit a player in the head.

a few of us posted this in the post-games thread. It is absurd. The punch yesterday may have been worse than the colts player because the play was over, allen well past the goal line, and the ball was in Allen’s far hand.

Where is the coach filing a complaint with the league? I can't believe this didn't make national highlights last week.

It truly is strange what the refs are calling penalties these days.......guys getting punched in the head, face masks getting pulled, etc. are all just the norm of the plays i guess cause they aren't getting called, but if an Olineman steps more than 2 feet over the LOS and is ineligible downfield, the refs are all over it like it's an unforgivable sin.

I believe it is intentional for sure.

 

I don’t believe I’ve seen any other QB get slugged in the helmet like that before. Should be brought to the league and player fined, with warnings given to future opponents.

This has happened in other games to other players.

 

I am not really worried about a head injury but more of a neck or face if their hand gets through the mask. Sometimes it seems accidental but the past two weeks vs Allen did not. 

not sure how they can fine or penalize for it but might need to look at the punching motion towards the head going forward

Just to be clear, the Colts player was fined $10,919.00 for the punch (but strangely, not penalized during the game)

 

I would hope the league will look at this, but if it's two weeks in a row, the Bills need to raise this as a question of refereeing since in general the league is supposedly trying to limit head blows.

If you're trying to sack the QB and hit him late, it's a penalty for roughing the passer. 

 

The fumble punch-out attempts can be called the same way, regardless of intent. If you try to hit the ball but miss and hit the player, it's a personal foul for unnecessary roughness.

When you are getting owned by a man all game and you can't stop him any other way, I guess that's all you have left. Wilkins resorted to grabbing his junk in piles, these guys to punching him in the face.

In fairness, they will do far more damage to their stupid hands than to Josh’s helmet.

It does not make a difference if they are fined since players will repeat in game to get an advantage.

It especially is important for QB for if he is injured and even if it does not affect outcome of this game it can future games affecting getting into playoffs, seeding, etc.

Yep, good slo-mo view of it at the :18 second mark of this vid.  If you're punching a dude in the head, it should be a personal foul and a fine.

I understand but now you have more judgment calls in settings that are not ideal to call usually it’s multiple bodies and hands. In the pocket it’s easier to see.

 

i would like to avoid anymore judgement calls by these a hole refs

I guess I'm in the minority, but I saw that and watched it multiple times, and I actually thought it was his last-gasp attempt to knock the ball out (just way off target). I thought it was much more convincing than that ridiculous player from the Colts.
