In reality that "challenge" was a very smart decision at the time. It wasn't really taken to challenge the play but to have a timeout that's normally a bit longer than just the basic 30 second timeout. And that's EXACTLY why McDermott threw that little red flag when he did. That was a smart move by a good coach if you ask me! 1 Quote

Ehh, not to nitpick because I think he did a great job otherwise but 1. wasting a potentially valuable challenge on 2. a defensive time out... is a double whammy in my book. Anyways, I'll take the win and enjoy the Bye week. Go Bills Quote
Generic_Bills_Fan Posted November 18 Posted November 18 (edited) That run commitment pays dividends even if the runs get pretty quickly stopped consistently. The chiefs pass rush really never got in a rhythm, they had a pretty bad night considering we were down a RT. It opened up a lot of those quick outside screen type plays, made them pretty susceptible to play action(despite josh blowing the big play we still hit on a couple) I think brady was really confident in the third and medium plays he was drawing up too it was pretty shocking how open guys were on a bunch of those. if we came out throwing a lot more often I think the pass blocking probably would’ve started losing ground against that chiefs dline as the game went on. Of all the possible outcomes, like the Bills getting another 1st down to run out the clock, this was the one that gave Buffalo the best chance to win. Are you sure they are going for a TD? I'm not lying that I thought they were likely to get that 1st down from 4th and 2. Chiefs are going to take the 2nd timeout. Most likely before 2 minute warning. So say 2:10 at 22 yard line. You are likely looking at 2 runs and if not getting a 1st down, 3rd and long at 2 minute warning. An incomplete pass + a field goal would give Mahomes almost 2 minutes to drive for a winning TD. A non first down run would give Mahomes about 70 seconds to do so. I'm sure that runs thru McDermott's head, but thank God Allen made all of that to moot. 2 Quote
