Buffalo Rumblings has an interesting article on playoff numbers for the Bills:  The Bills and the Playoffs

The article points out what we all know, that the Bills are close to clinching the division.  Two wins by Buffalo, two losses by Miami or a win and a loss by each would do it.  Miami is second place in the division with 4 wins and 6 losses.  By winning out, they can get to eleven wins, but Buffalo owns the first tie breaker over them (head to head).  New England and the Jets have 3 wins and 8 losses.  If one of them could win out, they can only tie Buffalo's record of 9 wins.  If Buffalo takes care of things with respect to Miami, The Jets and Cheatriots are history too.

Do you wonder if the Bills could win a wild card berth?  It would be difficult.  If Buffalo loses out, 9 wins might do it, but it's not likely.  If Buffalo win's just one more game, I think they could sill win a wild card spot, though as I read the article, I don't think it agrees.  Clearly, it's much easier at this point to win the division than win a wild card spot.

"if Miami wins out"

"if (one of the Jets or NE) wins out"

"if the Bills lose out"

congratulations

The Jets could lose out. They are genuinely the best new comedy on television.

Saleh could have easily gotten this team 6 wins!!!!

The best part is that Zach Wilson Jets were better somehow

Salah was a bad HC. He deserved to be fired, but doing it 5 games in was stupid. It told the entire coaching staff and roster that changes were coming. With a 40 year old QB and rapidly closing window, it accomplished nothing other than to add a distraction

I know we're sky high right now but it's not inconceivable that we lose two of our next three and then sweep the remainder of the year to finish 13-4.  I think the Chiefs finish 14-3 or 15-2.  I hate my prediction because I try to be positive but the Chiefs are battle tested.  I'd project us as the one seed if the darn Broncos could execute a short field goal.

Bills need to win at Detroit for any chance at #1 seed. Lions look like a better version of the Ravens so it might not be too easy. Buffalo can beat them both if they meet in the playoffs but not sure they can do it on the road.

The next time we play after the bye week, it could already be a win and clinch situation. The Dolphins play twice before we play our next game. They have New England this week and Green Bay in Lambeau on Thanksgiving night. If they lose either one of those 2 games and we beat San Francisco, it's a wrap. It could possibly already be clinched before we even take the field if the Dolphins lose both

it really didn't cause them anything.  This is the team that Saleh and his GM assembled. HE sucked is entire time.  Woody figured they had nothing to lose.

Now they can get the #1 pick for a QB. With Saleh, what, they win 5-6 games?

A wild card berth?  Bills are in contention for the one seed and there is zero chance they collapse enough to lose the division. Barring an injury to Allen of course.

That is exactly my take.  I couldn’t believe he would even utter wildcard when we’re 9-2, and the rest of the division is crap.   We’re on the cusp of the #1 seed.  We just beat the world champs and the next day he’s uttering wildcard.

To each his own.  SF looks vulnerable, Samuel had a good game, Cooper with only one good wrist is still a game changer, amd what do you say about Shakir.

That goes for the division.  The best place for our division rivals is suffering at 8-9 wins.  Never a playoff, but never high enough for a QB.

Here’s a very possible, maybe even likely scenario:

Dolphins have 2 games before the Bills face 49ers a week from next Sunday night.
Should the fish lose either game, the Bills can (and should) clinch their 5th straight AFC East title.
I think McDermott has something close to a perfect record following the bye.

They’ll be at home, rested, with (presumably) key players returning to action.
Less than bold prediction- Bills get title and 7th playoff appearance in 8 years.
That would include 6 consecutive playoff appearances , equaled only in Bills’ history by the ‘88-‘93 teams.

The vision of the 17 year drought is fading fast in the rear view mirror.

Getting to a Super Bowl is not easy. Winning is even harder. I don’t know if the Josh/McDermott Bills will experience it, but I like their chances a whole lot better than I did in the years leading up to Beane’s and McDermott’s arrival.

After the bye.  With Coleman and Kincaid coming back.  Milano and Carter coming back.  Buffalo is rounding into form.  Buffalo looks like the most well rounded team in the AFC.  The overall best team in Allen tenure.

#! seed is going to be major this season. I really don't see a "weak link" in the current playoff standings like we had in the past few seasons. BALTIMORE is currently the 6 seed and Broncos are 7 seed. They are both good teams. As well as the Bills are playing, there will be no slam dunks in the playoffs this time around. Hopefully we meet KC again, but it's far from guaranteed.  Heck, even they could have an early exit (especially if they fail to lock up the 1 seed).

The Bills will be AFCE Division Champions.

I thought a Division championship spot was > a wildcard spot. Why are we talking wildcards as a possibility.

Am I wrong?

This is my prediction which I think is where they actually seed now...

1.) Chiefs

2.) Bills

3.) Steelers

4.) Texans

5.) Ravens

6.) Chargers

7.) Broncos

Probably something like that.

Notice 5 of the 7 are pretty strong defensively ( Houston is more of an " outscore you" team IMHO, the Ratbirds shockingly stink on D).

I have a feeling the Chargers move up. They've bought in to Harbaugh ( the cheater) and could be a real tough-out for any team.
