If Cole Bishop becomes a quality starter this draft class may be a home run.

McD, Beane, and Babich get 100% benefit of the doubt.  Sure Elam, but Benford, and isht happens.  Hopefully everyone is very patient with seeing what Bernard has done.

Beane deserves a lot of credit,. but it's clear the coaching staff too. They are clearly good at teaching, motivating, correcting, etc. McD knows how to set up the right mindset. And leaders like Josh contribute to that as well with the fun. Yes, FUN matters too. KC players can be super creative. Hell, even Belichick allowed the Gronks to clown around. The Bills have this great mix of focuses and having fun.

I had the pleasure of talking with his dad for about an hour last year before the Chargers game, and I’m so happy for the kid. His opportunity took a while but he rose to the occasion.

Also check out his effort on the big touchdown. Excellent one on one blocking on the one guy who had a chance to stop Josh for a loss, one play after jumping to left tackle for a play.

O'Cyrus Torrence vs Chris Jones:

Baldy says later in that thread Torrence only gave up 1 pressure to Chris Jones the whole game. In these clips he isn't even getting help, just winning 1v1s against a future hall of famer. Torrence is still our biggest weak link on the line but he's come into his own over the course of the season.

Hard to argue with getting contributions from the top 8 picks plus the trade for Codrington.  Bishop will be a starter next season.  I also think SVPG is the future at center when McGovern's contract expires.

Probably best game of the year for Torrence against his toughest assignment.  Jones won a couple of battles but Josh was able to elude the sack. Jones is an absolute beast. He's going to win some rushes from time to time.

The right side of the oline looked great in those clips! Torrence pushing jones on his heels for the Josh run is awesome!

Surprised Jones didn’t move off of him and challenge someone else more frequently, like David Edwards.

Heard a rumor that during the draft he didn't want Torrence.

But to your larger point I'm so happy with the OLine group. Such an important part of a championship team

Ballinger gave Terrence a rave review for facing Chris Jones well.

Way down the road given Dawkins signed the extension earlier this year but let’s say he, god forbid, unfortunately gets injured or seriously declines does RVD get a chance there given his history @ the position collegiately? Or do they give a guy like Gouraige, another college LT, a shot?

Van Denmark was very good esp in pass protection. I do wonder if Brown not being there caused there to be less push in the ground game? Would have to watch the game with an eye for that but KC not only has a very stout D-line but they also played 5 down linemen and have a very good LB core so Brown may not have made a huge difference. But the moves made along the offensive line the past two seasons have been very good.

In 2023 the additions of Torrence and Mcgovern to the starting lineup and Brown recovering from his back injury completely turned around the starting lineup. David Edwards was a nice depth addition and plugging him into the starting lineup after Morse was let go was also a good follow-up move. Anderson and Van Denmark were added in 2022 and have been a nice development story both making for strong bench players. The addition of SVPG in the draft was a strong one while Grable also looks like a nice prospect. Even Will Clapp and his hilarious name looks like a nice veteran depth addition.

And Tommy Doyle has played well in spot play, was injured playing and then was injured during preseason.

If he comes back healthy it is a good thing.

He’s the guy who played half a game on a broken leg at the sauna game in Miami. Then had a brutal injury in preseason the next year.  I think they are doing the right thing keeping him around in view of his Miami game heroics.

And we have the 2nd most dead cap space and a very promising rookie class and plenty of draft capital for next year. Also, I think Beane has actually gotten better at drafting talent.

I think they're doing a better job evaluating traits vs. productivity.  This draft they seemed to do a bit of a 2017 type reset draft with a focus on senior bowl players and leadership.  Bishop, Carter, Davis, Ulofoshio, Solomon were all senior bowl players and all seemed to carry some level of leadership pedigree.  I don't think EVERY player needs to display that, but losing a ton of vocal leadership you developed since 2017 made it a priority to replace some of that.
