Can anyone with rewind/replay see if Miller gave up on a play on KC final drive?

Anyone have the ability to replay that last drive by KC? It appeared to me on (I think) 2nd down that Miller flushed Mahomes out of the pocket to Mahomes' right, then Miller just gave up and started walking. Mahomes was then forced by our D near the sideline to turn back in toward the middle. If Miller hadn't given up on the play Mahomes would have turned right into Miller. Maybe I didn't see it all correctly -- I don't have replay/rewind. Anyone? Thanks.

He did it a couple more times on that drive.
My kid didn’t see it and I made him rewind and watch it.

Completely gassed or just over the hill…. Or both…. But it was pathetic.

He did, but I Think he was gassed. He had a really good game, I’m not holding that against him

Yeah...It is like how several people were holding it against Richardson a few weeks ago...You cannot simply tell your body to do whatever you like.

Finish the rest of this season and we can let him walk........we'll get rid of that albatross of a contract and with like 7 picks in the first 4 rounds of the draft next year, can find a younger, cheaper option that McD can groom for the role.

Even when Von was healthy with us, i really wasn't impressed.............sorry, not sorry.

At the end of the day, it was a "splash" signing that didn't really work out. His production was not nearly worth his payday and not every FA we bring is going to be worth their weight in gold.

I have spoken.

This is the last play, no lack of effort:

This is the play I feel you are thinking of, definite lack of effort:

On the bottom play…

he sees two bills teammates coming to Mahomes so he stops to prevent Mahomes cutting back to try and run inside

I Watched a replay of the Chiefs last drive and it sure looked like he was quitting on plays way to often and too easily. He is clearly not even a shadow of what he was 5 years ago. Time to move on... Surely McD sees this too.

This.  Have we already forgotten how often Mahomes extricates himself from these situations?  Say Von launches himself there and somehow misses, is everyone saying “oh well at least he gave 100% effort there”?  Or say he gets an RTP and an automatic first down:  “well, at least he TRIED.”

I believe we won that play, and we won the game too.  Plus the reason Mahomes was even over there in the first place was that Von bullied his guy right into the pocket.  Does there really need to be a thread on this?

This is how I saw it too. I might say he was a little gassed, but it looked like a smart play of cutting off Mahomes running lanes. If he runs hard and dives at Mahomes, maybe Mahomes slips out and runs for a big gain, or maybe we even get a horrible Roughing call since it's Mahomes.

I noticed it in real time, but didnt have a problem with it.

I think some on here talk about Von on here so much because they’re just like some media still with Josh. They didn’t like the signing or are still upset with him after he came back from his injury and they aren’t willing to change their POV

Yes, thankfully enough people here understand the difference between being gassed and "quitting" on a play.

Yeah that's why Von's getting all these snaps... because McDermott sees him quitting.

I guess not many people here are old enough to remember Bruce Smith...

Here's an idea... Von returned to action in week 9... he had 21 snaps that game and 23 snaps last week

Maybe the team is trying to build up his conditioning?

He don’t ‘return’ from an injury. He was suspended! I’m pretty sure he can work on his conditioning while suspended. In fact, he should be FRESH.

1) I didn't say he returned from injury.

2) As you've undoubtedly heard numerous times, there's being in shape and there's being in football/game shape. You need to attain the latter to be effective and no amount of time in the gym attains that level of fitness.

I wondered if he was trying to be in a position to prevent him from cutting back inside.

I think this is what it is.

Bills fans can be down on Miller and for good reason, but the dude is not a quitter.

I think you prefer pedal to the metal there but may be some argument for playing it as a contain type role- not knowing if mahomes could scoot inside or try to escape back. By slowing down he has paths to any direction he tries to escape and was unlikely to run him down otherwise

Agree with this.

he didn’t “give up”.

Mahommes has made a career of highlight plays scrambling in the pocket and getting someone open, you have 2 defenders coming from the front side of him, and Von is back side looks like he's set on containing him. No issue there, and honestly that probably results in a highlight play if Von goes for the kill somehow. Von and Rousseau set the edge and contain great most of the game. Not bothered there

Yeah, I dont see lack of effort here. Preventing the cutback and the angle makes him look far closer to Mahomes than he actually is.

Late in a tough played game. He put a lot of effort in pushing the pile back. I think he was winded. It looked worse for him in that Oliver and Bernard were running full speed and had to cut back towards Kermit. He's the oldest player on the team.
