Week 11, Chefs v. Bills, GAME BALLS!

Besides all the players previously mentioned I also think Epenesa had a good game. He is very good at reading the out passes and getting his hands up. He applied pressure multiple times and was involved in quite a few tackles. But, as stated the entire defense played well.

Not bad for a rebuilding year.

Most weeks I have a bunch of game balls to give out. McDermott deserves one, Brady deserves one, the defensive line as a unit deserves one.

But -- echoing what I just said in the post-game thread -- this week I just wanna give out one game ball:

#17. Josh Allen. 

I've begun to run out of superlatives for the guy. He makes the miraculous seem commonplace. He makes the incredible seem routine. 

1 of 1. Best football player on the planet. I'm so thankful he's a Buffalo Bill.

Way too many good plays by so many players to break it down to 3.  Shakir, Cooper, Knox... that whole pass blocking unit (not so much the run blocking haha), but the pass blocking was phenomenal given the substitutions, and going against that DL and KC's pretty dang good blitz schemes.  

 

Benford, Douglas, Rousseau, AJE, Rapp, Hamlin all had serious plays.  Miller got home and contributed on several other plays- though the coaches need to kick his ass on one play where he totally coasted once he thought he was out of it- he could have shut down a much bigger gain if he'd kept playing - but still a good game overall for Von - in the sense of working his way back to being who we'll want out there on the field.   I haven't been too sure we even want him out there recently.  
 

Codrington was exciting. I'm onboard with that trade!

Lewis has improved a great deal this year. So has Dorian Williams. The injuries to starters have had a substantial silver lining.

He had two really important incredible grabs. The first one handed and the second an incredible tracking ball that I don't know if any other WR on this team would have made. All the while playing hurt and in a cast (or at least it was for the last couple weeks).

 

The same could be said for several players but the Bills don't win this game without Cooper. That one-handed contested catch while he was being interfered with was clutch as was his "Andruw Jones on the warning track" catch. I love how the fact of him being 20 lbs heavier than Diggs really comes into play quite a bit. On the latter catch the ball just instantly glued itself to his hands, ensuring that both feet were down.

Disagree strongly. Von and Epenesa were outstanding in their rush discipline. They rarely looped too deep. Mahomes was getting the ball out pretty quickly or there would have been a few more cleanup sacks.

 

Mahomes (like Josh) is now subjected to something like "The Jordan Rules." Teams have figured out that it's important to keep  him in the pocket. The Bills, like Denver last week were great at this and Von was part of that. Almost every rush was a bull rush, trying to take away run lanes and space for him to step into his throws.

The Bills have won every game this year, except for two games where they were injured and not yet playing well... on the road against two pretty good teams.

Unsung Heroes- The whole DL, they played Mahomes perfectly with the contain, did their 1/11th and made life uncomfortable all day.  I forgot if he even ran once, he is sneaky good converting with his legs

 

The whole OL - Chiefs couldn't get any pressure without blitzing, missing a stud RT and they didn't miss a beat

 

This was such a satisfying win, truly a complete game by everyone

You're right. Mahomes had zero rushing attempts. 

 

Josh led the Bills with 12 carries for 56 yards and a TD.

 

Kareem Hunt led all rushers with 14 carries for 60 yards.

Jones got manhandled on the Allen TD run so much that he didn't even bother trying to run him down he got shoved completely out of the play by Cyborg.

Aside from The One:

• Bernard. The sack and the interception, the second time he's iced a game. The man studies film. Clutch player in the mold of Milano, Talley, and Bennett. 
• Rapp. I thought he was a weak link in the D, but he's been great back there. Makes the key stops and brings the lumber. 
• Rousseau. How many pressures did he have? What a beast coming at you every play. A raging giant. 
• Babich. Great mix of zone and man, blitz and falling back. Disciplined play from his guys. Smart football. Shut down Kelsey, Mahomes' security blanket. 
• O-line. Run blocking wasn't great, but Allen had all the time he needed. No sacks, no penalties.
• Oliver. You can lose him in the scrum, but he had some terrific plays against the best interior line in the league. 
• Cooper. He might have caught that long ball one handed because of his injury. Playing hurt to help the team and coming through. Respect. 
• Shakir. He doesn't get the attention he deserves. Best or near the best in RAC and catch percentage. What else can you ask from the guy? 
• McDermott. The light has gone on. Aggressive as he's been in spots, at heart he's always been a play not to lose guy. No longer.

Honestly I think the entire team and coaching staff deserves a game ball. It was as complete a game as we have seen from start to finish all year and it came against the 2x defending SB champ and previously undefeated Chiefs, not the Jags or Seahawks.

 

 Chiefs were out coached and outplayed on both sides of the ball.

epenesa knocks down passes, because other than clean up time, he never gets to the QB, except when it has little effect on the game.
