Disagree.  Even after making the first down the Chiefs had to keep Allen out of the end zone.  They could have still have held the Bills to a FG then would have got the ball back with no TO's but probably more then a minute on the clock. 

 

In fact the Chiefs defenders looked a lot like most defenders look when Allen breaks off a long run like that - think against Indy and the called back TD run against Miami. Allen's combination of size and sneaky speed make it tough to tackle him in the open field.  The defender has to balance a couple of factors as they try to bring him down and by then it's to late.

I kept thinking that the way the Chiefs defense was reacting to those behind the line screens we were running that it would work if we faked the quick pass to Davis and let him head up field for a pass. I think that would burn them big time. Davis is a great pass catcher and it would also cause the Chiefs defense to hesitate a little.

I'm waiting for the "Mahomes is overrated" thread. Put any of the top 16 quarterbacks on that KC team and get the same results. They're winning with Mahomes, not because of him.

Yes but didn't he assume Kincaid's role and Morris assume Knox's blocking role?  With Kincaid back Knox will go back to a role where he primarily blocks which along with Brown are two key factors in the success of the Bills running attack.

"That's a good football team" - yeah, that's the clip I saw.  The very end was better "that's a very good football team, you have to play your best football to beat a great team and we didn't play our best football today".  If I'd heard that first I wouldn't have felt quite the same.  I wouldn't say he was "very complimentary" though.

This is just a ridiculous take.  Mahomes was really good yesterday - made more plays with his arm than Allen.

We missed him badly last year in the divisional round vs the Chiefs.  Kelce being held to 8 yards definitely has a lot to do with Bernard in the lineup.

It was more "we did not play our best football "guys were gorging on wings and were reacting slow""

Maybe I felt that way cos of my low expectations from Mahomes post-loss.

Mahomes was fine but IMO Allen made more top level throws then Maomes yesterday.  Both throws to Cooper, two to Samuel, one to Knox downfield, the great throw to Shakir on 3rd & 9 and a perfect throw to Samuel where the ONLY option for the Chiefs defender was to commit PI.

Allen had more completions, yards, 3rd down conversions (including multiple 3rd and long), and less interceptions. I would argue Mahomes first INT was also the worst decision of the game by either QB. And the KC defense is much better than the Bills this season (at least in terms of yards/game given up).

 

Not sure how you could say Mahomes made more plays with his arm.

This was the best the Bills have defended the Chiefs in the Mahomes era IMO. I was impressed with how aggressive we played them. They are going to get theirs and you live with that, but the goal is to keep them below 24 points and create some negative plays and we succeeded on both counts. Mahomes looked confused for much of the game and our pass rush plan worked better than I've ever seen it against the Chiefs.

I'm not saying he isn't really good. That one drive was excellent, for example. I'm saying he's overrated, which is a pretty modest claim given the God-like status he has. So, no, it's not a ridiculous take. Mahomes is an elite quarterback, but he's not carrying that team; the defense is.
