the best part is the bills did this without 2 of their top pass catchers and starting RT...   they will be coming back soon, copper get two weeks rest, and Milano is coming back. we haven't seen the best version of the 2024 bills yet

However the Bills line held JUST long enough for Allen to locate and deliver JUST into Samuels radius and of course he was wide wide open thanks to the blitz and scored.

 

That just castrated Spagnuolo, it took the biggest arrow out of his quiver... and that paid off later on 4th and 2 where he DIDN'T try to bring the pressure. In fact it was a terrific defensive call against the Brady swing pass that was called for the 40th time in the game to beat that predictable Spags jailbreak blitz - he zoned it off and it was a dead play on the snap. Allen just made another TFG play where the D makes the perfect call, and plays it perfectly, and Allen just beats it because he's Allen and the DC can only stand there and mutter "This *****in Guy!"

I was waiting for someone to call this out.  Yep, that 4th and 2 play was a real "That Fu**in' Guy!" play.  Spagnuolo had the perfect defense called to counter that particular offensive play.  Then Joshua *****in' Allen took over and he had nothing.

How many NFL players - NFL players on the 4th rated D for points, 2nd for yards - had a chance and missed Josh on that play?  I believe there were 6.

It could just be me, but I thought Kermit was a bit........condescending....about the Bills in his press conference.

It could just be me, but I thought Kermit was a bit........condescending....about the Bills in his press conference.

I think he just trying to compartmentalize the loss to be honest, i think Mahomes knows and respects the bills. However now the bills need to do it in the playoffs. so while it a great win and important win let just keep working out our team getting healthy and getting better.

I think there are two different injuries..

 

The injury he sustained on his left hand (non throwing hand) during the Jacksonville game where he dived into the end zone and landed awkwardly on his left hand.  He keeps wearing the glove on that left hand. 

 

There was a second injury reported by the sideline reporter in the 4th quarter where Josh appeared to injure his throwing WRIST (Romo even commented as to how this team is snake bit with Wrist injuries) and they showed Allen wincing with pain from that hand...but appeared to be shaking it off.   However, this happened after those missed throws).  It appeared that it was not affecting him rest of the game...

Why I watch the Manning MNF broadcast when I can. The extended Belichick appearances especially result in some cool glimpses behind the curtain of NFL play calling, design, and diagnosis. 

 

He was told to stop - not because he was a former player diagnosing these plays and telling us what may come - but because he had inside knowledge based upon discussion with the team and watching practices that are closed to media - he was telling us what they actually gameplanned.

 

The teams were complaining to the NFL that he was talking about their “secrets” for specific looks and teams threatened to shut down any info for Him and Nance if it continued.

 

It is the same reason the Brady owning a part of LV and being a broadcaster took so long to happen - there was a ton of stipulations that had to be addressed to ensure information wasn’t passes to other teams.

 

Romo was so great early because he was breaking norms by sharing info on how teams installed a gameplan for that opponent, but that info is then available for other teams to exploit as they see concepts.  If he shared thoughts based upon just what he saw on the field it would be one thing, but when he would talk about what “triggered” a blitz based upon formation - that was info gleaned from the discussions with the team and watching specific practices where the gameplan is installed.

Talk about dialing up the perfect play... it was great to have seen the Bills leave so much on the bone and still win. And I mentioned this week how great it would be to win despite all the injuries.

Absolutely. In last December's game against the Chiefs at Arrowhead, that Kelce-Kadarius Toney lateral for a TD that was negated by Toney being egregiously offside (the play which looked eerily like Homerun Throwback) happened one day after Frank Wycheck passed away.

 

As you point out the Worthy game planning was psychological warfare as was the Kelce-Toney lateral play.

The failed 2 point conversion by Lamar vs Pittsburgh is in stark contrast to Josh's 26 yard TD run. I pointed out earlier this week how that power component is something that no other QB has.

 

In this game Josh converted:

• 3rd and 2
• 3rd and 1
• 3rd and 1
• 4th and 2

In his career now (according to the Buffalo News) he's 52 of 63 (83%) for his career converting 3rd and 1 via the run and 29 of 32 on fourth-and-1 runs (90.6%).

 

There is zero way Lamar Jackson is even close to these numbers... he weighs 200 lbs dripping wet.

To put it differently, Mahomes now has 25 ints in his last 27 regular season games... I disagree with you though... Mahomes is still incredible.

 

Those 6 passes he completed on the TD drive that narrowed our lead to 23-21 were incredible small window throws made on the run. That said the Bills did a great job of containing Mahomes in the pocket. We were seeing a lot of bull rush and containment rush.

 

Another thing that jumped out at me was that Epenesa continues to improve. Twice he peeled off his pass rush to cover the swing pass. On one he batted the ball down. On the other he caught up to the running back and limited what could have been a long gain into a 7 yard gain.

 

As I've been saying all season this team has as good a chance to win the Super Bowl as any. The season is long and there's many ups and downs. Too many here hit the panic button after weeks 4 and 5. It was laughably and predictably sad... as were those throwing Von Miller, Curtis Samuel, etc. on the bust pile not even halfway through the season

The left hand injury was against the Cardinals in week one.

The right hand/wrist was a couple weeks ago ( can't remember which game) where he hit right hand on a helmet. Not sure if he reinjured it last night as he was not hit on the throw where he was wincing. 

Two weeks of rest will be good for this entire team!

Say what you will about McD. But he does a great job scheming against QBs. QBs in particular who aren’t elite. And QBs who aren’t familiar with the Bills (a las NFC QBs). Outside of Burrow, Mahomes and Lamar, I can’t think of a single QB who has carved us up. 
 

I think we feast on the niners. I also think the lions is a tight game, but we end up beating them.
