Not sure what is taking so long to get to the line of scrimmage.  You can't get to the line with 5 seconds left.  In fact, against the Chiefs, you want to get to the line as soon as possible so you have a little extra time to try and figure out what they are doing on defense.

Give me the summer to watch challenges across the league to get a handle on what the refs are likely to, or unlikely to overturn and I'll work for a reasonable salary.

 

Asking for a challenge that fails is just incompetence.  Unless you are 98% sure (people are people after all) there is no way you request the challenge.
