The Frankish Reich Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Maybe Nancy Mace would take the job? Seems like the kind of sober-minded leader America needs. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-14152809/Nancy-Mace-caught-gross-video-two-women-man.html Ahh, the New Conservative Libertines. Do as I say, not as I do.

Biden is Mentally Fit Posted December 11 Posted December 11 Good point here. Had he not kept the letter the “reliable” mainstream media, that some here have a romanticized notion of, would have this as the top story tonight. 1

Because in the world of political theater, the hope is that the lie is understood to be the truth, and if enough people believe the lie... I struggle to understand how someone at West Point could make such a mistake to begin with.

I struggle to understand how someone at West Point could make such a mistake to begin with. Was it a mistake? Or an intentional act to produce disinformation? To smear somebody with lies to poison public opinion and give political adversaries ammo. One thing is clear to me. Dishonesty and lying and corruption are systemic and critical problems in government. Perhaps at all levels. And the private sector isn't much better. America's got a problem. Generally, making good decisions depends on truth and fact. As a society we have not been making good decisions. 1
B-Man Posted December 12 Posted December 12 "This article is based on interviews with nearly a dozen people who have direct knowledge of how and why Mr. Trump salvaged Mr. Hegseth’s bid, at least for now." I'm reading "Power, Intimidation and the Resurrection of Trump’s Support for Hegseth/The president-elect became convinced that letting Pete Hegseth fail would set off a feeding frenzy among senators. What followed was a MAGA swarm that helped salvage his bid, at least for now," by Jonathan Swan and Maggie Haberman in the NYT. I'm giving you a free-access link so you can judge the quality of the sources, the likelihood of a senatorial "feeding frenzy," and the meaning of "MAGA swarm." We're told that Pete Hegseth went "from dead man walking to a man with a real shot of being confirmed by the Senate" in what was "a test case of power and intimidation," where Trump demonstrated his "ability to summon an online swarm, even while spending minimal personal capital of his own." B-Man Posted December 12 Posted December 12 I GUESS YOU COULD SAY THE DEMOCRATS TRIED TO MAKE HIM INTO BRETT KAVANAUGH — AND SUCCEEDED. Pete Hegseth Will Be Confirmed. By Mark Judge https://www.splicetoday.com/politics-and-media/pete-hegseth-will-be-confirmed Well, Kavanaugh was confirmed, too, so maybe this was a bad strategy. 1

Generally, making good decisions depends on truth and fact. As a society we have not been making good decisions. I'm under the influence of a perpetual cycle of Dayquil/Nyquil for the last several days. I think I was thinking that an organization like West Point is extremely well-organized, has processes that are followed religiously, and would have a great attention to detail when exploring the question of whether or not an individual was accepted into the academy. In other words, if a mistake, it reflects poorly on the administration. Sloppy. Apathetic. Unbecoming of a prestigious institution. I think I was probably thinking it wasn't a mistake at all, but even then, it's sloppy to assume that they could steamroll the guy and that Hegseth would not have some proof of being admitted. That in and of itself seems like very poor planning and a lack of strategery if the goal was to embarrass him. In the calm light of day, I think they were just sloppy. 1
BillsFanNC Posted December 13 Author Posted December 13 Gee, I wonder why Hegseth would say "I don't feel the need to respond to CNN." 1
