Something I might be reading too much into is how Josh has not gone out of his way to praise Mahomes after his hissy fit last year with the whole Kadarius Toney penalty. Which is a far departure from how he has spoken about him in press briefings in the past. And it's not like he's gotten ornier this year as he's pumped the tires of essentially every QB he's gone up against, even the corpse of Joe Flacco just last week. Anyone else notice this?

I ask this with the understanding that it is utterly meaningless and essentially gossip. But I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't love it if Allen threw some shade at Kermit, either directly or indirectly.

All these dudes are basically in a professional fraternity.  Which is pretty understandable because only another NFL QB can relate to the unique life of being an NFL QB. Beyond that they do charity and promo work together, and probably run in somewhat similar social circles.

The NFL Universe isn't all that big

I miss 80’s football.

There was genuine animosity between teams. Way less hugs and pictures between opposing players after games?

Remember that Dolphins player flipping off our crowd when he came out of the tunnel?

Dawkins and the Jets is all we have left off that.

Why? I don't need dudes hating each other to enjoy a rivalry.  I actually love how much respect these guys have for each other. As an athlete I talked my sh!t, but I only did it to guys who I loved competing with. And at the end of the day you dap up or hug that guy because you brought out the best in each other and you appreciate a competitor

He probably thought the same thing about Mahomes as we all did that night ... I'd be surprised if Josh even thinks about that anymore and I'm sure they get out golfing together every off season.

Bryan Cox definitely threw gasoline on the bills dolphins rivalry. Karma got him back, I believe his son was on our roster for a cup of coffee.

Josh is respectful of Mahomes as the recognized top QB, but he doesn’t have to gush about this guy. He needs to beat him in the playoffs and get us to the SB. Let’s see how Mahomes, Burrow and Lamar react to Josh when he is a SB winner. Josh is more diplomatic than any of them. We’re not trying to make friends with these elite athletes just not give them bulletin board motivation.

Cox. And then fans responded by hurling racial slurs and batteries at his neck rolled a**. I loved the rivalry but the racist crap was ridiculous.

Yeah, I think you are over reading or over analyzing things.  Mahomes reached out to Josh after that and cleared the air too.

I didn't see that. And perhaps you're right.

But I think the way Mahomes acted after they beat the Bills in the playoffs was kinda douchey too. Would not be surprised if Josh thinks so too.

Yeah I think he may have lost some respect for Mahomes when Patty was such a horrendous sport in the two games last year.

He gave the Bills no respect for the win they got in KC.....was a straight up b!tch meeting Allen at midfield after the game........even though the penalty on Toney was egregious and even if it weren't called there was plenty of time for the Bills to come back down and score a game winner.   He acted like it was a judgement call in the closing seconds that cost them the game.  Not hardly.

And then Mahomes made fun of the Bills after winning a tough game in Buffalo in the playoffs.

If Allen wins that game and goes on to win a SB it's only 2-1 in their SB's.   It was a potentially huge career swing game.   So I think he could feel the heat on his neck from a peer age QB for the first time and his reaction wasn't pretty.   Allen no longer owes him any professional courtesy.

It was probably overplayed anyway because of that golf thing they did.

Mahomes was really out of control in that regular season game last year.  I've rarely seen stuff like that.  So classless - it wasn't just the handshake. He was losing it on the sideline, and still losing it in the presser afterward.  Over a properly called penalty, because it cost Kelce a degree of "greatness."

I'll have a hard time seeing him as anything but a big baby from now on.

Look at the way his family behaves, he’s just like them. If he wasn’t the best QB in football, people would have next to no respect for him.

When Mahomes is done playing and becomes a NFL alum, the goodwill he has from being a great QB will start to disappear. Time will not be kind to Patrick Mahomes, people will absolutely despise him and his ego.

Fans did not "respond".

That racial crap was going on well before Cox responded to the fans.

It was pathetic trash and probably the only time I've ever been ashamed to be a Bills fan.

That was Brian Cox and played both at the Dolphins and the Jets.  When interviewed after his teams had the crapp kicked out them by MGK (the real one) he told a reporter he’d rather retire than allow a trade to the Bills.  He truly hated us.

Great memory.

Couldn’t stand him but I miss that true genuine rivalry and dislike.

I knew nothing of the racial stuff others have mentioned. Thats terrible.

I actually loved him for hating us that much.  He was so dedicated to it.

To each their own. I’m glad you like it.

To me it’s meh. Like sticking my toe into a lukewarm mug of water.
