gomper Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Everyone please relax! When the NBC deal was anounced ESPN said that Primetime would be moved back to 11:30 and NBC would have some sort of highlight show leading into its 8:30 kickoff.
Fan in San Diego Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I want my Primetime ! The best NFL football recap show ever. What will take it's place?
Pete Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 !@#$ NBC! A mere 20 replys to RIP NFL Primetime and over 60 replys to RIP Stern on E. What the hell is wrong with this country?
MartyBall4Buffalo Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Howard Stern is complete garbage. NFL Primtime will be missed. The music for the highlights on sunday makes my week and makes me feel all warm and cozy inside, and after this year I won't have that anymore, but god forbid if people don't see Midget porn stars, retard's and stupid bimbo's and bulemics, R.I.P NFL PRIMETIME!!!!
BillsGuyInMalta Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Knowing how NBC runs their sports shows, I guarantee that whatever garbage they parade out as their "Highlight Show" will be absolute crap in comparison to Primetime. Knowing NBC, they'll have the cast of "Average Joe" come and be the hosts of the highlight show. I mean, thats reality TV meeting with reality sports! You cant beat that!
BillsWatch Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I wish they would put Chtis Berman and Jackson on NBC rather Madden-dog.
LynchMob23 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 bum bum bum bum da dum dum dum, dum dum dum da dum, BUM BUM BUM, dum dum dum dum da dum da dum, dum da dum dum dum DUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM DURRRRRUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM bum bum ba dum dum da dum..... I'll miss you 366127 I think of that song whenever something awesome happens. In fact, during the NFL season I would watch and wait for when the Bills would get "the music" as I call it...but alas, no luck.
Buftex Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 !@#$ NBC! A mere 20 replys to RIP NFL Primetime and over 60 replys to RIP Stern on E. What the hell is wrong with this country? 366226 Hey dude, relax! That Howard Stern thread was the first thread I ever started, that received more than 3 replys.... I am glad NBC is back in the NFL game (I liked them best in the 90's), I am pissed that MNF is moving to ESPN, and not happy about Prime Time being moved up to the wee hours....that being said, am I the only one who thinks that PRIME TIME has been pretty unsatisfying to watch the last 3 years or so? It used to be that you could watch the highlights of each game, and you felt you got a real feel for the game that was played. Now, they stuff so many commercials into the show, they basically show the same package of clips they showed on Sports Center, for the less than "prime time" games, because they don't have enough time to break each game down, like they used to. In the good old days, they showed you weird plays from each game, and all of the key plays. And, I would swear, there were times over the last couple of years, where they showed no high-lights from some games. I will miss Prime Time, but I hope something more like the old Prime Time appears.
Mark Vader Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 OMG, I hope this is not true. I've been watching NFL Primetime since Day 1, when it was Berman, Jackson, John Saunders, & Pete Axthelm. This is the ultimate NFL highlight show. I even have the NFL Primetime of The Comeback on tape still!!! I hope that this show is not being completely cancelled, and that ESPN will still keep the show, and just have it on later Sunday night.
Mark Vader Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 gomper Posted Yesterday, 07:45 PM Everyone please relax! When the NBC deal was anounced ESPN said that Primetime would be moved back to 11:30 and NBC would have some sort of highlight show leading into its 8:30 kickoff. Alright. Obviously I did not read every quote here first. Thanks for the insight, gomper. This does make sense. It was very hard to imagine ESPN cancelling one of it's best shows.
Mark VI Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 That's why we're in the parking lot at 9am - better discussion than you can find on TV. (Plus ample supplies of tailgate food/drink, of course..... ) 366095 Yes. Showing our brilliance by drinking our Sunday breakfast and eating food off Kennys' Pinto. We're MENSA material.
CoachChuckDickerson Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Don't know if this has been covered, but I heard for the first time yesterday on WTEM in DC that ESPN Primetime will cease to exist once the new TV deal goes into effect in 2006. The reason is, is that NBC will now have the Sunday night games and part of the deal is that ESPN, or any other network, cannot show highlights until 11:00 PM Eastern. Whether NBC will put together a highlights show has yet to be determined. I found this news a little sad, as I've gotten use to the Boomer and Tommy show...unlike the lame pregame shows on all networks, I thought Primetime broke down the games pretty well...it was a good show and I'll miss the "Nobody circles the wagons..." intros by Berman. Again, if this has already been debated, I apologize. 366029 When there is a link, I'll believe it. Otherwise I think that the information that your best friend's sister's brother heard from some guy who was listening to Washington radio is puuuuuuuure bull shlt.

When the NBC deal was anounced ESPN said that Primetime would be moved back to 11:30 and NBC would have some sort of highlight show leading into its 8:30 kickoff. 366218 I can't relax. How am I going to choose between Berman and Adam Benigni?
Mike32282 Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 That really blows. I loved watching the highlights to catch up one the games and see the Bills highlights specifically, seeing how they never really showed much of them on Sports Center. Plus, it was perfect to watch Sunday night to help me figure out how my fantasy football teams did.

Yeah, Primetime has really diminished and it's not much better than SportsCenter anymore. I'm mostly going to miss it for sentimental reasons. They don't even show any of the scores for the losing team in a 24-21 game half the time; "lets pick up the action at 14-7 in the 3rd Qtr". I mean come on - you're supposed to be an all-football highlites show. The highlites & analysis are much more expansive for 'Baseball Tonight' and that's on 7 night a week for God's sake.

Just like any other ESPN show, Primetime focuses on the big market teams. I, for one, have usually seen all the highlights before it even comes on anyway.
