I watched his brother fight Mayweather and the same thing as this fight happened, even if they are different ages and fighters. 
 

Mayweather got a couple of shots in early that hurt Paul then backed off the remainder of the fight. 
 

Like you said, it’s probably Mike protecting himself and playing the hope of a longer game but after he clocked him a few times in the first couple of rounds he backed off. Found that pretty interesting.

2010 was when it really died though Tyson Fury & the Klitschko’s were always a decent watch over the last 15 years.
