I will definitely watch.  It will likely be a disappointment,  like watching Roy Jone's Jr. allow Tyson to obliterate his ribs to avoid being knocked out in their exhibition a few years ago.   But it's entertainment and 80's nostalgia.    The thing with Tyson though.......he never had the size to have a long boxing career.   George Foreman could compete with the best in his 40's because he was massive with the long reach so even when he just turned into a big fat guy he was tough to take down.

I heard today that the rounds are only two minutes long and they're using bigger gloves that are typically used for sparring. Also heard a cynical take from a radio guy saying that it will go all 8 rounds because that's what Tyson, Paul and the promoters want. Guys like me who back in the day watched Tyson obliterate everyone in his path want to see a first round knockout. I stopped watching boxing years ago when it became obvious the outcomes were pre-determined, I'll probably watch tomorrow but I expect to be disapponted.

Tyson vs. Paul fight sanctioned fight rules

The fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul is sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and includes several significant conditions.

Both fighters will wear 14-ounce gloves instead of the standard 10-ounce gloves typically used by heavyweight fighters. These conditions are significant as they will influence the pace and strategy of the fight.

Additionally, each round will last two minutes rather than the usual three minutes, and the fight will consist of eight rounds instead of the standard 10 or 12.

In our first house the guy next door would buy all the Mike Tyson PPV fights. We’d go over very early, because the fights were often over within the first 15 seconds. That was “a thing”, just like watching Tiger in a Major for a while. Must see TV, indeed.

Our neighbor used to do the same thing with getting the PPV and we'd all gather around to watch ole Iron Mike's fights.......we always found the fighter introduction was longer than the fights.

Back then PPV was a lot of money, so why anyone would pay to watch a 12-15 second fight is beyond me.

I’ll watch since it’s “free” … apparently it starts at 8 and there are 7 fights before it

I'm just hoping I'll be able to stay awake by the time the fight starts

Big payday for both. Estimated 20 million for Tyson, who has a current net worth estimated at 10 million.

Definitely a money grab for the both of them, but will watch. Would love to see Tyson knock Paul out right away.

I can't imagine this guy being able to withstand body punches from Tyson. I think that boxers lose their legs and reflexes as they age, but not their ability to punch.

This should be good.

I don't think this is a real fight.  I don't think any of Jake Paul's fights have been real fights.  I consider this a sideshow similar to McGregor v Mayweather.  Maybe this one doesn't end up with a YouTuber knocking out a retired has been and both participants in this farce get to look good.  Perhaps a controversial decision.  That would certainly set up well for a 3 fight series.

Im having a real hard time getting excited to see a near 60 year old washed up boxer and the brother of lousy hydration drink owner "fight." I'll probably still watch just for the spectacle of the whole catastrophe.

It's some internet influencer who's won a few pro bouts; I have no idea whether he can fight or not.

Mike probably has about 2-3 rounds before he's sucking wind and turns into a punching bag for the kid.

If internet boy has a brain in his head, he'll be on his bicycle for about 8 minutes and then stand off and pick the old man to pieces on the move.

If he's dumb enough to stand in there with him early, I hope he gets exactly what he deserves.

* This presumes there is not already a script in place

He's a legit mid level boxer.  He isn't anywhere near the top level guys.

You're right about Tyson having 2-3 rounds.  He will just get sloppy at that point.
I'm interested to see if he's matured his temper.  You gas yourself out more by chasing and throwing with everything.  Paul is going to try to piss him off as much as he can.

This is a fight sanctioned by texas and will count towards Tyson(an Paul's) official record, others haven't.  Difference is there are 8 2 minute rounds and they will be using 14oz gloves vs 10oz, so softer gloves. but this is definitely a sanctioned fight that counts towards both records.  Should be interesting.  I am looking forward to it

Tyson is a literal monster. If he still has it mentally (I imagine he does) and he can move his body at all he will overtake him easily. There have been few fighters to ever fight with the rage that Tyson ever fought with in the history of the sport.

Jake Paul (as much as I despise him) is going to win this fight.  With the 14 ounce gloves and 2 minute rounds, I don’t see Tyson knocking Jake out.  I would guess that Mike has 3 maybe 4 rounds in him before he turns to mush.  Wanna bet?  😂

Anyone know if there are undercards tonight?

several. 6 from what the schedule shows.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson undercard: Complete list of fights before main event in 2024 boxing match

I just hope those fights don't take too long, I'd est 3 hours. so fights open at 8, it may be midnight before the main event. I likely will have to read about it in the morning if that's the case. this old man generally goes to bed with the birds and up with the birds. unless it's a bills night game and this fight is not a bills game level to stay up.

I don't think Jake Paul takes any fights that he might lose whether its due to careful selection of opponents or pre-arrangement.

First let me say: As much as I would love to see Tyson knock that Youtube twerp's face clean off his head, I fear this won't be much of a contest. Tyson is nearly 60. I question whether this is even a legitimate fight or if Tyson is getting paid a hefty sum to take a dive.

More importantly, I implore everyone to watch Tyson being interviewed by a child yesterday and being lobbed a simple softball question, and apparently not giving one single solitary ***** that it's a literal child he's responding to. 🤣🤣🤣
