I mean, that’s as close as you can get without actually having the 1 seed. Literally anything could happen over the next 7 games. Mahomes could be knocked out of a game and the Chiefs lose a couple. Or they could get a bad ref call. Or they could just straight-up lose a couple as they’ve been very lucky to win what they have. Win this week and it’s basically a race for the 1 seed until someone blinks. Lose this week and the 1 seed is gone. Even if they win this week I don't think this Bills team goes 3-0 out of the bye. Do I see the Chiefs losing two more games even if the Bills do beat them? Not without a Mahomes injury, no. So if it is a question of rushing Cooper back for this week or holding him out, letting him have basically a full month to rest the wrist and get it right for the stretch run I'd take the latter. 1
Charles Romes
He needs to be out there Sunday just so the chiefs roll the coverage to him, even if he can’t actually catch.

Might as well forfeit the game then. What’s the point in playing if the division is wrapped up and we are not getting the 1? 1

There is a difference between forfeiting the game / not trying to win and pressing a player who is not fully healthy into action ahead of time. If this was week 18 and a win and you're in game, or it was a playoff game they should do absolutely everything to get Cooper on the field. But it isn't that. It's a regular season home game at 8-2. If you play Cooper this week and he re-injures or further injures the wrist I think that would go down as a bad risk/reward decision.
Miyagi-Do Karate
Have to think cooper might be thinking he would have this week plus the bye to get to 100%.

A football axiom I find relatively accurate: if you aren't getting better, you're getting worse.
frostbitmic
I get the fans frustration. We go out and spend a 3rd round pick on a one year rental player, a shiny new toy for JA17 and in the first month we've gotten a game and a half out of him and if he sits this one out it'll turn into 1 1/2 games in a month and a half. Will he be recovered after the bye or will this be an ongoing problem for the rest of his tenure here ? The team only has four options ... 1. Play him even if doing so makes it worse ... 2. Sit him until he's healthy ... 3. Amputation ... 4. Spleen transplant. Options 3&4 might be a bit drastic for now but if Coleman is back before him ... It’s just a pain thing.”

Sojourner
36 minutes ago, ShakAttack said: hopkins had a pre-existing knee issue when chiefs traded for him too, and hes still playing through it, where Cooper was fully healthy when he joined the Bills. That Hopkins is still going while Cooper suddenly has a wrist injury is just typical Bills vs Chiefs luck lol Well we have a little more luxury as it stands right now with our division. Chiefs, even @ 9-0 have the Chargers and Broncos left on their schedule and a handful of games behind them in their standings. Will they be knocked outta first in the AFC West? Probably not but they still have to give themselves some room. Wrap that division up and they may rest him for the remaining weeks.

The chances of the Bills making the SB with the bye are far, far, far better than if they don't have the bye. Disagree with this logic.

WRs don't use two hands to catch anymore... it's not cool enough to make the highlight reel. That's a good gag, but I get the sense some folks are missing something here. This is NOT just about catching the ball. If this was just about catching the ball, he'd be out there yesterday. He's got to fight jams at the line, battle DBs during routes, push off tacklers to separate and you know damned well he's expected to block with full effort. You can't do any of those things with a single hand or with a wrist that won't work. You should also know that every DB in a red jersey is going to be absolutely hammering on his wrist every time he extends it from his body and ripping at it when he doesn't. If he goes out there before that thing is ready to take the abuse, it will make things worse and harder to recover from. 1

Just cuz mcd isn’t being super open with the general public (aka future opponents) about it doesn’t really mean cooper isn’t being clear with mcd about how well he could play through it

Further, it is highly unusual for McD to make a comment like that. He does not normally challenge a player publically so directly which makes me think he is unhappy with the desire being shown by the player. People can sugar coat it all they want but this is not a good development. We do not know the real situation of course and probably never will, but I would be shocked if McD pushed a player to play who the team doctors thought would be putting himself at further risk. (More than they all are at risk every play of course) I hope I am wrong and certainly could be.

If he is hurt I am saying it’s not the biggest deal if he misses this week and gets another two weeks to heal it’s not like it’s the last game of the year he can heal up and still have time to get on same page with Josh before the playoffs

Of course some have higher pain thresholds than others, but I just don't see the sense of taking a risk at this point if he is saying he is not healthy enough to play.
