As for "contract year", he really hasn't faced one--he was traded from every team and only 1 (Cowboys) extended an existing contract. Again, what will sell him the most for this season is his film this year with the Bills. Your most recent film is what the teams will at. What does it matter if he's never had one? He's in one now and he makes more money the better his film will look. That would be incentive to not play with an injury. You want to be at your best. It's the business side of the NFL that sucks.

Cheektowaga Chad
As long as he is healthy heading into the playoffs I don't care how many weeks he sits out due to injury Get him healthy We got him for the playoffs and with him we are a legit contender, without we aren't

I agree with that, there was a shot on the sideline at the End of the Tennessee game where players were hyped and players were giving each other fist bumps etc. And someone tried to do it with him and he looked annoyed, then gave this fake "whatever " smile / look, then went back to looking annoyed. There have been some shots of him at practice where he just didn't look happy to be there. It's just a culmination of things that seem off that bother me. Add to that he allegedly had been cleared to play but just feels wrong or sore or whatever and it adds up to a guy that doesn't want to be here for me. And I'll say I might be wrong, but there is too much smoke for there not to be a fire imho 1
machine gun kelly
2 hours ago, WotAGuy said: In a way, yes. He’s a free agent next year. The Bills are unlikely to sign him. So he has a lot of personal incentive to not further injure himself or be at less than his capability because it will cost him in his next contract. As it is, his value is declining. Or WAG, the other possibility is he needs to prove to McBeane he’s worth an extension so goes all out the rest of the year to get a modest extension for maybe three years with year three voidable. That will help us now, and give us time to build more draft WR depth. it would be nice to see a healthy Cooper, Coleman, Shakir, and Kinkaid for SF with Milano back. That’s our playoff run. Wr’s don’t grow on trees. Finding an easy Cooper replacement isn’t that easy based on where we draft, and we still need to fill DE, and on, and on.

SBF, I understand what you are saying, but I cannot get it out of my head that even if he hated it here worse than Dante's Inferno he has only 7 games left plus playoff games on a Super Bowl contender with a generational QB who can only make his life after this season better. So some may be seeing something, but it just doesn't mesh with reality. Go Bills.

JGMcD2
I’m not ready to start freaking out yet. If he’s cleared, it’s a pain management thing. Dalton Kincaid was cleared to go back in the game on Sunday and pulled himself. He felt like he couldn’t protect himself with the way his body felt. Who is to say it’s not the same thing with Cooper? These guys are ELITE athletes that rely on their body for a living. I understand he’s cleared, but nobody knows him better than him. I’ve seen players cleared by trainers and told it’s just a pain management thing, but the player continues to report significant pain. This forces additional tests and imaging - shocker it was actually a significant injury that was misdiagnosed. 78thealltimegreat
The guy has a chance to showcase his skills in one of the biggest regular season games of the year as an impending free agent…he’s either really soft, doesn’t have a high pain threshold, just doesn’t wanna play football anymore, or he flat out hates Buffalo. I’m going with he’s soft. Edited 9 hours ago by 78thealltimegreat 1 2

WotAGuy
Cooper has made a ton of money in his career. He knows his body and he knows his situation related to this year and a future contract. He’s going to make the best decision for him, and I can’t blame him. He’s a smart guy; he’s doing what he thinks is in his best interest.

It's rare you get comments from McD that can be viewed as critical of a player. I think it's clear that Cooper is a different kind of guy, it's probably why he's bounced around. I don't see him has having that Bills "DNA." I know some have speculated that we extend him beyond this year but I don't see that as a fit. Hopefully this is just a blip and he gets us where we need to go this year. He is not making much of a case for being resigned with the Bills, or any other team really.
Goin Breakdown
So are we in the drive Cooper out of town mode? I mean he may actually be hurt. If he drops an important pass because he's not ready, are we ok with that? 1
Solomon Grundy
Come on fellas!! You need your wrists to catch a football with your hands. To squeeze the football and secure it. Would anyone be happy if he played but continually dropped passes? Say the go ahead TD pass. If he can't go out and be the dominant Amari Cooper, then sit until healthy. Learn anything from the Curtis Samuel situation?🤔

Usually it's just that.. they're shy, etc. Not everyone gets all super happy and affectionate all the time. Introverts get mislabeled a lot. Let's err on the side of caution here and not cast him out just yet.

Playing poorly is the worst thing a pending FA can do (next to having a catastrophic injury). Not playing isn’t great, but it’s not nearly as bad. But we don’t even know whether or not he’s going to play. There are a lot of people here that are getting ahead of themselves on that. If I was McDermott I would want to keep KC guessing on whether or not he is going to play. Cooper’s impact on the defensive play calling is huge. No need to tell KC how to game plan for us. ShakAttack
If the Bills are being more cautious with injuries this season because we are in a less desperate situation than seasons past (around this time of the season) then I am all for it. If we are relatively healthier than we have been all year once the playoffs start, we should all be thankful that some of our guys didn’t play on injuries that they were technically “cleared” to play with. that’s the difference between being 8-2 and being Tyreek Hill playing for a team that is on thin ice. 2
