That was my perspective sitting in the front row, 40 yard line on the Bills' sideline, at the Bills' playoff game against the Jaguars.  

 

Our great Bruuuce reduced to an afterthought, made me realize just how good that pri#* was, the best left tackle I had ever seen play.

 

I think the entire game, Kelly getting 'knocked out', and in his last game, and the once dominant Bills losing to the short lived Jags, at home!, made those images of Bruce getting manhandled stick with me to this day.

 

So I was very happy the day I found out Boselli was getting inducted into the Hall of Fame.

 

 

 

I remember Richmond Webb for the Dolphins giving Bruce a real hard time too. Webb really shut him down.

Trent has been outstanding for a while.. but he doesn't have the consistency of those two 

 

Walter Jones allowed like 25 career sacks and has nine career holding penalties.. Trent has allowed 40 career sacks and has a lot more than nine holds 

 

You were also allowed to be physically more dominant back in the day on both sides... There's a reason why even in this passing era nobody is touching Bruce Smith's 200 sacks

 

 

I think Boselli,  in his brief prime, was the best I've seen.   He was dominant and mean as hell.   I could never understand why they didn't move Bruce around more rather than line him up across from him.

 

Walter Jones was great.   Orlando Pace was maybe the best "specimen" LT and was also great.   Those 2 had a rough time pass blocking Bruce Smith though.   I think he had 3-4 career sacks against Jones in very few games played and he had a 3 sack game against Pace.

Reggie had guys he couldn't beat too.   And they were RT's not the stud LT's of the day.   The great Erik Williams used to beat Reggie like a rented mule.  He pitched a full shutout.....zero tackles even........against Reggie in a playoff game once.

Over the age of 35? Dudes last year was in 1992, 32 years ago. Very impressive if a kid under the age of 10 can actually form an opinion of a LT.

Reggie, like many of the so-called sack masters of today, line up against right tackles.  

 

Still good players, but not on the level of the guys who take on the tougher challenges against the higher skilled and more athletic LTs.

I'm probably slightly influenced by the fact that when I started watching the NFL the Rams were still in their late "Greatest Show on Turf" era... but my head goes straight to Orlando Pace. 

 

Interesting to see so many throwing Trent Williams in. He is definitely a future HoFer and the best of this generation. Tyron Smith is the other guy from the past decade who was perennially elite but the last 2 or 3 years injuries have definitely affected him and he has sucked on the Jets this year.
