See you are doing it again... Benford is atypical of the late round corners McDermott has a history with. The only thing he has in common with Jackson and Wallace is he was picked on day 3. As a talent he isn't even comparable.

Umm no, take a look at Josh Norman.  McD is making these guys look great, his system, as much as I don’t love it, is AMAZING at hiding DB flaws and making them look great.  What has Tre White been since he left?  How great was Douglas before he came? How is it working out for Wallace?  Benford is good, he’s not the prodigy you guys want to make it seem he is.   Paying him is less stupid than Oliver, but not by a lot.

Since he suffered two serious lower leg injuries you mean?

He was a very good veteran CB and Packers fans were upset to see him go. What makes you think he has been better here than he was in Green Bay?

Wallace is not comparable to Benford, and if you think he is you haven't watched them play. Benford's analytics have been elite this season, Wallace never came close to that. He was just a guy.

Cook is easy, let him walk.

Shakir is difficult for me. If he's getting $20M per season I let him walk. I love his YAC skills and his chemistry with Allen but that's too expensive for a slot WR who's better after the catch than before.

Bernard I think will be cheap enough to re-sign. He is a really good fit for McDermott's scheme but other teams might not value him as much. Plus he is injury prone and small. I see us getting a team friendly deal and I'm good with that because I think he is growing into one of the best pass coverage LBs in the league. The INT he had against Houston and the almost INT he had against Indy were not even necessarily bad reads by the QB, he just read the plays at an almost psychic level and got to a spot that the QB never would have expected.

Benford will be a priority for Beane I am sure. He is a culture fit and a scheme fit and he just keeps getting better. And I don't think he's going to get a massive record breaking deal or anything like that because he is a zone CB. Tre White got 17.25M AAV when we extended him. I could see Benford getting very similar numbers even after accounting for salary cap inflation because he's a tick below what Tre was as a player.

i mean several ticks if we're being honest, White was a legit AllPro talent while he was here

Josh Norman had a career year playing for McDermott's D in Carolina the year they

made the Superbowl in 2015. He never played at that level before or after. But he was a pretty good player in 2013 and 2014 with the Panthers and in 2016 and 2017 with Washington. He never lived up to his contract in Washington but that is because he was paid on the back of that one career year as the best paid corner in football (which was always silly). But his first two seasons there he was still a good corner. As for Tre White... Tre was an elite corner in the league. Pointing at struggles in LA after two major injuries doesn't prove your point. Douglas is who he is. I don't think he was great anywhere else or has been great here and Levi Wallace for reasons I've already explained to you is not a legit comparison. You are just wrong on Benford.

I agree. It is too early to commit to that huge dollars to Benford...

What was Tre at the beginning of last year?  Shot because of trying to recover from an ACL tear before suffering basically a career ending Achilles injury.

Douglas played just as well in Green Bay as he has here.  If the Packers knew they were going to make a run last year they wouldn't have traded him.

Look at any CB metric this year and you'll find Benford near the top.  Definitely a top 10 outside CB who is still improving at only 24 years old.  He should be the priority signing of the off-season  Putting him in the same category as Levi Wallace is insulting imo.
