Half the people posting here daily are probably living from one Social Security check to the next. Their handlers have them exactly where they want them, cheering for billionaires while supporting policies against their own interests.

No waste or fraud.

Tesla's federal income tax payments over the last few years reveal a striking trend:

In 2024, despite earning $2.3 billion in the United States, Tesla paid no federal income tax. For 2023, Tesla paid $48 million in taxes on $3.1 billion in income, representing a 1.5% tax rate. In 2022, Tesla again paid zero federal income tax on $5.5 billion in income. Over these three years, Tesla reported a total of $10.8 billion in U.S. income but only paid $48 million in federal taxes—a mere 0.4% average tax rate, which is more than 50 times lower than the statutory corporate tax rate of 21%.

Moreover, Tesla has also received significant tax subsidies and grants, totaling $2.8 billion, according to Good Jobs First.

It's truly stunning.

Holy moly that is stunning. Think of all that money the government could have wasted on dumb crap and stuffed into their own pockets if Tesla had paid more taxes.

"Major American companies pay little in income tax.  Film at 11."  Never mind that it's a successful company employs tens of thousands across the globe.

Why do you think Tesla got significant tax subsidies and grants?  I'll give you a hint: you libs loved Tesla...until Musk bought Twitter and took it from you.

It's truly stunning that Dems are now claiming that there's no waste and fraud in the Government.  But not surprising.

I’m not saying that. I’m saying DOGE’s methods are not the correct way to find it, and it’s increasingly obvious that Elon has no idea what he’s doing.

I really don't post here all that often (anymore), I am certainly not MAGA, nor a Trump supporter (full disclosure, I did vote for him in 2016, but not since).

What I don't understand is why anyone would be opposed to DOGE.  EVERYONE knows that the federal government is a bloated turd of bureaucracy and inefficiency, with crooks and lawyers in charge. What are you protesting against?

Are the Libnuts actually benefiting from the status quo corruption they're trying to protect and defend? Maybe they are.

Regardless, the reason it looks like Trump is tearing things down is because he IS. The Swamp won't drain quietly.

Really?  You think that a guy whose job as a CEO was to cut waste in his own companies has no idea how to do it?  That he's lying when he says that he's found that there are more people receiving SS than are actually in the country, with 20M of them being 100 or more in age?

An absolute mystery. Party identity/loyalty is apparently so strong that it trumps all.

What do you believe is the correct way and why hasn’t it been done before now?

Biden could have shown us the "correct way." He didn't. Kamala didn't even refer to any need to clean up the government in her campaign.

Oh well! Missed your chance.

As I’ve said here before, the correct way is a long, intensive audit, with the findings packaged and memorized and delivered to Congress.

Why should Elon have access to SSI data?

He’s not lying, per se, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Here’s an example:

Hell, Elon can’t even recognize an AI-generated picture!

A long-time finance/federal affairs journalist? I reckon he knows what he’s talking about.

Would you prefer someone with the handle “ MAGAPATRIOT47” and a profile picture of an AI-generated gorilla wearing sunglasses?

Who conducts the long, intensive audit? Any thoughts on why it hasn’t happened before now?

Out you go. . . . . .

Acting head of Social Security Administration resigns after dispute with Elon Musk’s DOGE: report

The Social Security Administration’s acting commissioner reportedly resigned over the weekend after a dispute with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) over the Elon Musk-headed group’s efforts to access sensitive government records.

Michelle King, a career federal worker who had been with SSA since 1994, quit over the DOGE disagreement Saturday and was replaced by Leland Dudek, the Washington Post reported on Monday.

Dudek, who has been supportive of DOGE’s efforts to root out waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government, will serve as acting commissioner of SSA until President Trump’s pick to lead the agency, Frank Bisignano, is confirmed by the Senate, according to the outlet.

Create a Senate committee! Get the Inspector General to do it! That’s how it’s typically done.

Audits happen all the time. You just haven’t paid attention because you weren’t programmed to be mad yet.
