You don't have a choice.

We could always raise corporate taxes to where they were in the 1950s golden era, and we could institute universal healthcare which would save billions a year

Universal healthcare is not the answer. I would not want Canada's healthcare system.

Just because some places serve s***** pizza doesn't mean that all pizza is s*****.

Couldn't agree more. Canada and the UK have the some of the shittiest versions of UHC.

Now granted, I've used the UK version of UHC, where a trip to the Nurse Practitioner (No wait!) and a week's worth of antibiotics cost me $13.

But their are better ways to deliver that outcome than the nightmare that is the NHS.

Which is why we should look at models like Germany or Taiwan, or literally anywhere before picking a UHC that works for us.

Instead of Obamacare, which really sucks, or Trump's alternative to Obamacare, which is to repeal it and then...stuff.

Im a big proponent of the German model, a public option that can compete with private insurance.

They figured it out in the 1880s for Pete’s sake!

Right?

One day, someone will give an argument for our market based, dog**** outcome, pay to win, hopelessly expensive system that has...dare I say it...nuance?

Something better than "Canadian UHC BAD!", which is like saying all cars suck because Chevys exist.

Does the German model let the government dictate what's considered elective surgeries? It would be ideal to give the power back to the patient.

Acknowledging the initiative is the right thing to do is a good first step.

As far as people not liking the process, that likely falls along political lines.

I don’t like chaos, certainly don’t like to see friends or neighbors impacted by job losses, but as you indicated, pretty much everyone has known we (taxpayers) are getting fleeced and have been for decades.

Sometimes you use a scalpel, sometimes an axe.

You are correct here, and only politics can make one critical of the effort.

Only an activist can complain about stopping $500,000 of tax dollars studying the affect on the red spotted tzi fly in the Oregon hills by low flying single engine planes. The day of the career lefty activists is thankfully over.

The US government needs to reduce spending.

BUT, Trumps style, Musks style harms the effort.

They need to publicized the target, the level of completion and the areas they will not consider.

It's the chaos that is the issue.

Well, to be fair, the chaos is largely a matter of perspective.    In our political system, the winds of change blow quickly and politicians are always trying to figure out how to win the next election.   As we approach the midterms, focus changes especially in tightly contested races.  I think Trump realizes that, and decided to push forward and fast.

In addition, the $500k study, one of hundreds if not thousands, most definitely falls into axe category.

As for the lefty (or righty) government agency/official skimming off the top, I am not so sure.  There’s a sh$tton of $$$ money involved and corruption always finds a way.

Taro is the one who said that, because he watches Fox news, and doesn't see what they don't report.

Not in manners of the purse.  Like Susan Collins said, he doesn't get to change funding, even though he heads the departments(officers) that Congress anointed.  If that were the case, the president would just make and sign his own budgets.  I don't like the spending that Congress does, but that's their job.  If YOU don't like the spending Congress(or anything else) is doing, then why do you keep voting for incumbents?

Show me where I said DoGE is making cuts.  You can't.

And you are making a whole lot of other stuff up too.  Have a good day.

The rumor about the U.S. government owing Obama royalty payments originated with The Dunning-Kruger Times (also known as "America's Last Line of Defense," or ALLOD) — a website and social media account that describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature. Its About Page states:

Everything on this website is fiction. It is not a lie and it is not fake news because it is not real. If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined. Any similarities between this site's pure fantasy and actual people, places, and events are purely coincidental and all images should be considered altered and satirical.

We already knew the part about you needing your head examined, though.
