Good info. I have learned something new.

You make assumptions about people here every day. Generally that they are racist, a Nazi, or not up to your standards of piety. I have made an assumption about you as a function of reading your posts and where you get some of your source material. Let’s not act too outraged about it. Nobody cares.

Most people here I don’t have to “assume” anything. You foam at the mouth about transgender people. BillsFanNC doesn’t like anyone to the left of Pol Pot.

You’ve got the high ground. To the point of declaring the pope agrees with you on murder of ice agents. Got it.

"Overhead" includes "indirect costs" such as new laboratory equipment and research infrastructure.

I saw how it works during my grad studies in molecular bio (in the 80s, it hasn't changed).  We had a NIH or NSF grant (can't remember which- it was ~40 years ago). About 5 months before the end of the grant, our advisor told us to go on a buying spree and get anything we wanted for the lab. We would not have spent the entire grant by the end and would lose that money, Instead of rolling it over that to the next grant and ask for less next year, the next grant would get less $ (by a lot). Across the whole govt., that is mega moola.

The others.  To be fair, I'm not particularly fond of anyone right of Ronald Reagan, but I trust the next pandemic will get many of them.

Fair point. However, reducing to 15% seems absurdly low.

worked for biochemists on NIH grants both in grad school and med school.  Never saw any of that.  We produced some great findings.  Perhaps you picked a scummy research director....

My problems are more from the process of unconstitutional budget cuts, as well as the complete lack of a plan for using the money.

Have you calmed down/sobered up from last night?

Where did you stand on Biden canceling student loan debt and defying the courts?

He didn't. SCOTUS shot down his original plan. So he did it in a Constitutional way that was far more limited, involving accepted programs such as PSLF.

You haven't yet figured out where the first pandemic came from.

You're a moron.  just blow off the next world infection. It'll be fine.  Do your own research.  Live short and don't prosper.

Him blowing it off will be the counterweight to your overreaction. Nobody is telling you not to be terrified. I’m actually encouraging it. Stay strong!

As they load up on anxiolytics, weed and alcohol (and probably narcotics) to help them live long and prosper...

I just hope we don’t finance it this time

That was also my experience in the Army, if we didn't spend our money in a fiscal year we were allotted less money in following years.

musk seems to be doing all those things while accomplishing that.  not my recipe for success but it works for him.  not sure it works for the country.

Finance JD Hill?  Did we last time?  Do we still?

You think the fact we funded the wuhan lab is funny? Do you know how many people died?

i do.  i don't know that the virus was leaked from there.  neither do you. but you should tell your fellow magas here how bad it was.  It was not the equivalent of the flu as per a recent post here.  less would have died if they all took the vax and closely followed guidelines.  did you?
