We should definitely not know the names or histories of Musk's DOGE minions. They should be allowed to remain completely anonymous. It is completely irrelevant if they are, say, 19 years old and were fired from an internship - an INTERNSHIP, which you basically can't be fired from because, you know, it's an unpaid internship - for disclosing internal company information. It is also irrelevant that you wanted to normalize Indian hate. Or that you don't have a clearance, because, well, you have demonstrated that you are utterly unqualified to get a clearance, and that you nonetheless access classified information. In fact, anyone trying to "doxx" you for doing a public job ought to be herself outed as a raging lefty liberal who is so un-American as to reveal the name of a public employee.

Back to the DOGE thread,

Just for the record, David: I was racist before racist was cool.

And oh yeah: I would not mind at all if Israel and Palestine were wiped off the face of the earth.

I work late on Fridays, so all is forgiven!

Added bonus: It was a youthful indiscretion, meaning that I said it last summer.

Didn’t you start a thread titled “Hail to the Deep State” or something equally ridiculous? Is that only a thing when dems are in charge?

Another question - you were happy to have a delusion old geezer in charge because you were confident in those around him (unelected - I know that’s a dem talking point right now). Who were some of your favorites in the last administration? What left you most impressed by them? That’s two questions.

Nothing so ridiculous at all. It was titled Two Cheers for the Deep State. In other words, I recognized that the so-called Deep State is not without it's problems, as it creates an inertia resistant to change, even when change is needed. But it also suggested that - in my more traditional Chestertonian conservative viewpoint - that a man does not tear down a fence until he understands why it was put there, that radical change is often not a good thing.

I suggest you read it. It may provide you and your ilk some needed, umm, maturity.

Looks like a judge stepped in and blocked Musk from accessing the treasury.

Thank God that they rescued the government from having financial accountability while helping Americans fight for their right to have their tax dollars wasted and misspent. Thanks also to the media for telling us what to think about it (that DOGE is bad cause Orange man bad)

Crazy how those MAGA's wanted transparency in their government. How dare they! We have a right to be lied to by the government and media.

Kidding aside, Do progressives actually want to help people or is scaring them into accepting third-world living conditions and dividing the country to the verge of Civil war the only things that they care about?

Will do. I’m sure it’s a classic.

Were there any Biden Administration officials you were particularly impressed by?

His defense/foreign policy team. Engineering a coordinated NATO response to Russian aggression was no mean feat. Other countries did things I never thought they'd be willing to do, including Sweden's accession.

If there’s one thing that will put Joe on Mount Rushmore, it’s his defense/foreign policy team.

Good heavens man. Are you serious? Even giving credit for a coordinated NATO response you are impressed with these people? Were you awake for the Afghanistan debacle? The entire Middle East disaster? The floating pier? Removing the Houthi’s from the terrorist list? Funding UNRWA? Relieving sanctions on Iran? This is the group that impressed you most? Yikes.

The US Treasury Spent HOW MUCH Illegally?

Now You Know Why the Left Wants to Stop DOGE.

cb330b1d-b012-49e0-8973-b944e15b99a4-105

Congress illegally spent at least $516 billion in 2024 on programs for which there was no authorization. Yes, billion, with a "b."  A stunning report by the Congressional Budget Office underscores the reason for the legal assault upon President Trump's right to audit payments by the Treasury Department.

In a report titled "Expired and Expiring Authorizations of Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2024," the CBO observes: "Historically, House and Senate rules restrict lawmakers from considering an appropriation if it lacks a current authorization." Nevertheless, "CBO estimates that $516 billion was appropriated for 2024 for activities with expired authorizations, which the agency identified for each House and Senate authorizing committee and appropriations subcommittee." That $516 billion in illegal payments cover "1,264 authorizations of appropriations that expired before the beginning of fiscal year 2024 and 251 authorizations of appropriations that were set to expire by the end of fiscal year 2024." The legal authority for some of these payments expired 40 — that's not a typo — years ago.

{snip}

Making this all the more intriguing is that it would seem that the President could stop those payments without worrying about violating the Impoundment Control Act as they are not legal appropriations by Congress's rules.

I will guarantee you that when DOGE really digs into this, they are going to find other ongoing illegal payments on a Biblical scale.
