peterpan Posted December 2 Posted December 2 He’s been very good all year. He didn’t track a poor pass by Allen in one game and people hated on him. Didn’t make sense. He’s a big strong team guy who catches it when thrown to him. Much better than Davis last year. 4 Quote
Danger Mouse Posted December 2 Posted December 2 I liked his little endzone dance with (i think) Spencer Brown after the Cook monster TD run. 1 Quote
That's No Moon Posted December 2 Posted December 2 I don't care for his schtick but the boys seem to like him and every locker room needs a glue guy/hype man. He's makes plays every now and again which is also nice. 3 1 Quote

I nearly died laughing just thinking about him doing this in the middle of a play. I just came back to this thread to bring that up. Saw it when they showed the Knox catch replay from the sideline angle. The second Knox breaks open Mack is pointing. 1 1 2 Quote

He comes across as kind, genuine, individualistic, competent, confident, and quirky. Add that to his biceps and....Yowza. Maybe not to the Plastic set, but to one slice of chickdom (and it's not a small slice), that's incredibly attractive. So there's a video of him walking into the Bills facility for Sunday's game in this "Weird Science" getup. Seems he's doing some month to month "Fast Facts Friday" Instagram challenge. October musta been domestic tips. November was science, and the wig and stenciled lab coat were part of his get-up for filming those. Yeah, they're standard "science experiment" stuff you can find on Youtube, but I'm seeing a message. He's saying "yo! You like to be competent? You like to mess around with science and be a little geeky and make a mess? Sure! You can do that and still be an NFL football player! See here! I may get an Insta account just to follow this dude. Sherfield is currently on the Vikings roster. Perhaps I don't understand what you mean by "unrosterable player"? He's on his 7th year in the NFL. He spent 3 years with the Cardinals when they were a crap team, but as soon as he had the chance to choose, he's played for SF (10-7, conf. championship); MIA (9-8, WC); BUF (11-6, Div); MIN (currently 10-2 and 5th seed). So not only does he keep getting signed to NFL rosters, he's able to choose to sign with quality teams who expect to contend, he's active on game day, and he plays significant snaps. Yeah he's not a star, but he's a "glue guy", a strong STer and a good blocker. What DO you mean by "unrosterable player"? 2 1 1 1 Quote

Jalen Virgil is on our roster, but I would still classify him as that caliber of player. In retrospect unrosterable isn't the right term. 50th man on the roster is a better descriptor. That's Sherfield. He's only played 18% of offensive snaps and he has 8 targets. Hollins is clearly a step above that. Earlier in the thread I said the offense performs better when Hollins is targeted 0-2 times per game. We've gotten more examples since then and it's still true. We've scored 32.25 PPG in games where he's gotten 0-2 targets. Only 20.75 PPG in games where he's gotten more than that. But for the role we have him in he's a perfect match, no question. He was critical to our rushing success against San Fran. He turned his 1 target into a great TD catch. Credit to Beane for building up the offensive supporting cast enough to put Hollins in a role where he can thrive. 2 Quote

eball Posted December 3 Posted December 3 (edited) Watching what a great teammate Hollins is, and his contributions on the field, it's mind-boggling this is his 4th team in four years. Just seems like the kind of "glue" guy you'd want to keep around. Edited December 3 by eball Quote
Kelly to Allen Posted December 3 Posted December 3 Excellent number 4/5 wr and very physical. I hope we resign him for one year Quote

Every team in the league carries offensive players who are there to play special teams. If you're good at it, you will be able to play for a long time. Morris and Gilliam are the biggest examples this season as core STers. People wanted davidson over Morris because of preseason, but end of the day even with kincaid missing time morris has played 136 offensive snaps. Hollins ST snaps are way down this year, but when everyone's healthy i assume he'll get some snaps there. He's a good blocker and a smart player so get him on the field. Quote

Need wr who can block and play teams. Hollins might be the best wr 4/5 in the league this year. He is not a high volume player. A few targets a game he is expected to make those plays and do the dirty work. How that game went makes perfect sense why you dont activate Coleman coming off a wrist injury. Let it heal and use Hollins. Keeps Colman healthy and Cooper fresh. Quote
