Mack’s great game and Josh’s 66 passer rating seem inherently linked imo. Just like when Mack got a team leading 6 targets vs Houston and Josh completed 9 passes. Or when Mack was second on the team in targets vs Baltimore and Josh had a 73.9 passer rating and we lost by 25. I want Mack to be Hines Ward. I don’t think he is. Mack isn't the go to guy. The correlation between Mack's biggest games lining up with Josh's worst speaks more to him having no choice but to rely on the 4th or 5th Receiving Option in Mack. Whether that be because the top options (Coleman, Shakir, Cooper after he was acquired, Kincaid) were either injured or that the Defensive game plan was so good, that our top options were being neutralized and Hollins was the guy they let go relatively free. Of course those situations are going to line up with his worst days and his best days are going to come from him being able to better utilize more talented options instead. For what Mack Hollins is, which is a journeyman WR4 or 5 - he's been solid. The idea that you're going to get a Hines Ward type player or production from your 4th WR on 2.5 million dollars is a bit unrealistic. Stack what Hollins has done up to the league average from most teams WR4 or 5 and he probably looks very good in comparison. You're not wrong that he's not someone you want to rely on. But he shouldn't really be here for that. He's here as an option to go to as an open guy when Cooper, Coleman, Shakir, Kincaid, and Samuel (the real disappointment thus far) aren't getting open. As sort of an emergency option while being a core Special Teamer, as well as a very good downfield blocker. If he's willing to come back on a similar low priced, low expectations deal - i'd be interested in him returning as a bottom of the roster WR with what he's done this year thus far. He seems to have settled into his role really well, he's very well respected, he's smart, works hard, you know, all that kinda business that McDermott loves. And yeah, I made the post today after I took a look at his stats. Sure they're not dialing up ten targets a game for him but when his number is called, he answers. If he's not catching a touchdown, he's at least getting a first down! Go Mack! But also, don't always shun the shoes! They're there to keep ya feet safe. You need those things. Both of 'em, for running and stuff.

They got rid of him No- we didn’t get rid of him- he chose to leave. That’s how free agency works. I’m confidant he could’ve stayed if he wanted to get paid what he’s actually worth and be WR4 like Mack. 3M, not 13M. the jags paid him 13M to watch him post career lows across the board. I was so happy that an afc paid him that ridiculous contract.

Lawrence's performance went down last year and they hoped signing him might help but did not and their offense was adjusted to take advantage of his skills but it wasn't. Lawrence's performance is worse this year. They may have made a mistake when they gave him a five-year deal worth $275 million in the offseason. Billsfed1 Posted yesterday at 05:01 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:01 AM Hollins will be a 8 TD guy this year which is pretty amazing given his roster position

I also like how he has been running to the ball or even placing it (he got away with it once) "for the ref" the save time. Guy is a smart, heads up player. Besides every one of his catches being important and the above play you reference, he caught clutch catches at the end of both halves against Miami. After each catch he ran the ball down the new line of scrimmage and handed it to the back judge to spot to preserve time on the clock. Beyond that, his positive effect on locker room chemistry has been widely lauded by his teammates. Mack Hollins is having a major impact on the Bills success this year.
Chicagobills Posted yesterday at 05:52 AM Share Posted yesterday at 05:52 AM Great team guy and solid 4th or 5th WR. Very good run blocking and special teamer. Seems like a great guy in locker room I like him

This is the type of back end of the roster WR we’ve had a hard time finding in the past. He seems to be a good locker room guy too. 32 minutes ago, Mr. WEO said: His QB stinks in Jax. Some guy named Brenton Strange, a back up tight end has one more reception and the same amount of TD's as Gabe Davis.
BarleyNY
Some perspective on this. We’re talking about a bottom of roster WR who is 31 and making $2.6M. Through 10 games he’s got 16 receptions for 197 yards. 39 of those were YAC. He big and savvy, but he’s not otherwise physically gifted for a NFL WR. Teams do not have to worry about him ripping off a big gain. But he can get open in the EZ and for first downs- and he holds onto the ball when it’s thrown to him. Do I want to see him on the field for the Bills? Not really. I want someone more talented out there. But I don’t know many WR 5 or 6s I wouldn’t say the same thing about. Could it be worse? Yeah, a lot worse. When called upon he is contributing to the best of his ability and making a positive impact on this team - and that has helped us win some games. When I see Mack Hollins on the field I am a little bummed. But that’s because it means that starters are missing time and because it limits the offense. But it’s simply a matter of those starters missing time, not him specifically. Again, he’s making a positive impact to his ability - and that is far from a given for a depth WR. https://www.footballdb.com/players/mack-hollins-hollima02 Edited 14 hours ago by BarleyNY 4

billsfan89
He's been very good. He's been that good WR4 this team has lacked. I get that most teams don't have elite WR's as their 4th WR but if you get a player that can contribute as a WR4 in spurts while also being a very good core Special Teams player that's a very good use of one of your 4-5 WR spots. I think this team has wanted to get just some more production out of that WR4/5 special teams spot. Jake Kumerow and Sherfield while they were solid ST players they never added much to the offense. I don't think there was the expectations that either were gonna be putting up huge WR numbers. But I think McBeane probably wanted them to get something like 300-400 yards 30-35 receptions with a few TD's. Not eye popping numbers but a decent back end contribution. Hollins whose pushing 200 yards and has some TD's is going to get you that extra pop while still being a ST contributor.
