MPL Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Yes, but also, it's generally a good idea to avoid QBs from USC. 6 2 2 1 Quote
thenorthremembers Posted November 12 Posted November 12 No. He is a rookie. In terms of rookie play he isnt wrecked.  If he comes away from one year wrecked its because he is mentally weak and thats not on the Bears.  Eberflus will be fired and they bring in an offensive mind to work with him. 2 Quote
Buffalo03 Posted November 12 Posted November 12 This the second time the Bears have drafted a QB in the top 5 with a lame duck head coach which makes no sense. They did it with John Fox with Mitch Trubisky and now they did it with Eberflus with Caleb. 5 1 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted November 12 Posted November 12 No idea how Eberflus kept his job. He has to go. 2 Quote

They did it with Fields and Nagy too.  Edit: Missed the top 5 comment. 3 straight times with a 1st round QB tho is insane Edited November 12 by Captain Hindsight 2 2 Quote

They're probably going to fire Eberflus and Williams will get his 2nd HC in as many years and a new offensive system to learn. 2 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted November 12 Posted November 12 No. This year is going to be filled with adjustments and growing pains. Next year, he's likely going to have a new HC and OC that can develop him better.  They have things to clean up, but there is some talent there. Quote
Sojourner Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Eberflus is a problem, undoubtably.  But Williams has an insane amount of talent on that offense, some of the problem has to fall at his own feet.  Jayden Daniels, with a lesser cast of weapons, is killing it in Washington. Kliff bombed in AZ and there was question marks whether he could facilitate the growth of Daniels. He’s played his part but credit has to go to the QB himself just as much.  The talk is their firing their OC so Eberflus is already finding a scape goat.  2 1 Quote

Wait until you have a new coach to pick his guy Quote
strive_for_five_guy Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Just like the Browns and Jests, the Bears inherently wreck any QB they draft. 1 Quote

I am sure I missed some amazing games of his, but he was sloppy with the football and seemed to have trouble reading the field. He held the ball way too long and took a lot of sacks. Notre Dame made him look pretty bad too. 2 Quote

Call_Of_Ktulu Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Caleb is wreaking the Bears, if Caleb went to Washington they would be 3-7. Caleb’s pocket presence and field vision are just so bad. In College teams would just drop coverage and Caleb could run. In the NFL teams disguise coverages and CB’s make the windows tight. The Bears once again picked the QB bust. No HC or OC is going to go there knowing that there is a high probability of failure attached. 1 Quote

Talk about setting yourself up for failure for 7 straight years.  Next coach won’t be married to Caleb and will be quick to throw him under the bus to save himself. Another first round pick wasted. 1 Quote
DCofNC Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I would never have picked the kid, he looked like a head case from the get go, now things aren’t going well and he’s melting.  I know he has raw talent and all, but what in the world was all the hype for?  He never really dominated in college, he shrunk on the big stage and didn’t play within the offense, he thrived making ***** up.  Jayden Daniels was the exact opposite, the only question on him was really durability and look at him.  He plays within the scheme, CAN run and is accurate, what more did they want in a QB?  I’m happy for Daniels to not be a bear and not even a little surprised the hype has turned sour on Chicago. 1 5 Quote

DrDawkinstein Posted November 12 Posted November 12 As of right now, Yes they are wrecking him. To no one's surprise. It's the Bears. Â Shouldve fired the entire staff before the draft and let a new HC and GM have a crack. Still wouldve picked Caleb but it wouldve given him stability in coaching. Now he's in the Browns model where he'll deal with a new HC and/or OC every year for 4 years until he leaves and goes somewhere else. Quote
