Here is a FANTASTIC YouTube channel dedicated to doing full breakdowns and historal lessons on all sorts of vehicles. The guy Bill that runs it is a genuine crank and very entertaining. Hes down in Naples, FL and he buys restores and sells all kinds of cool and oddball vehicles.

So, i took the old girl to the shop to get it looked at (she's running real rough these days) and my mechanic says we gotta make a choice cause this old truck ain't got much life left in her.

The 4-wheel drive ain't working, the dash is lit up like a Christmas tree, the oil pan is dripping, the alignment is way off, zero brakes, serpentine belt is split, tranny is acting up, etc.

I told him to just do whatever he can to make it road worthy for the winter and i'll deal with it in the spring........maybe looking at getting something else.

I haven't been car/truck shopping in about 10 years, so i don't even know what i'm looking at anymore.

Enjoy the time you have left with her and trust your gut, you’ll know when it’s time to put her down.

10 years old... What did you do to the poor lady... Almost got 20 years on my old Jeep... Triple on my hot water tank.

WhatEVER YOU DO, DON'T FLUSH THE TRANNY NOW.  The gunk is holding it all together.

😏

My old Ford F150 had 650,000 kms on it, it was close to 15 years old and i didn't spend one dime on it........once the tranny blew, i called the junk dealer in town and gave her a proper send off.

My Dodge has 275,000 kms on it, it's 10 years old and i haven't stopped sinking money into it.........first and last Dodge that i will ever buy.

They just don't make car/trucks the way they use to.

I was going to comment on your tranny response, however, due to me trying to stay on my best behavior these days, i'm staying far, far away from it...........(insert joke here)

My MIL owned a Chrysler New Yorker. It was almost comical how terrible that car was, in every possible way. It had electric seat controls, but it was so tight I had to open the door to be able to operate them.   🤔

Was it pre-last generation, 1993 and earlier (the boxy looking ones)?  Or last generation 1994-1996 (LHD)?

I took over my sister's 1994 New Yorker (LHS style)... It was a decent ride and I cranked out about 250,000 miles before I got rid of it.  Had some early innovations like LED lights... Super expensive to replace back then.

Easy to fix...

Well earlier than 1993. It was hot garbage, and it was white with a red velour interior. It looked like a rolling brothel but she was unaware of how ugly it was.

We had a Toyota Hylander hybrid that got 375000 miles.   It used oil the last 125000 miles so I only changed the oil twice in that period-struck out of guilt

finally and a transmission issue that was estimated to be over 3k if it worked at all.  Got 800 bucks cash for it

we did literally nothing but tires and only 2 sets of brakes.

problem was that car was so damn boring.
