Saxum
Robinson is high on the short list of football coaches who enjoyed significant success in both the college and pro ranks. He went 104-35-4 at USC and 75-68 with the Rams, winning postseason games and contending for championships regularly with both teams. Robinson was particularly successful in bowl games, going 8-1 in the postseason with USC and UNLV. https://www.therams.com/news/rams-honor-former-head-coach-john-robinson-moment-of-silence-sofi-stadium-monday-night-football Rams honor former head coach John Robinson with moment of silence at SoFi Stadium Quote We are heartbroken to share that former Los Angeles Rams head coach John Robinson passed away earlier today. Coach Robinson holds the record for most regular season wins in Rams franchise history. He also won four Rose Bowls and a national championship as the head coach of USC and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009. 1

Maybe because he was coaching teams in the west? RIP, Sir.

Let's Go Buffalo
Coach Robinson's Rams were fun to watch. Prayers up for the family. R.I.P. Coach Robinson!
thenorthremembers
My Grandfather had the NFL Films VHS tapes when I was growing up. I watched them relentlessly on the weekends. Coach Robinson was a fixture on a few of those. I always found it very cool that he and John Madden were friends growing up. LA Times did an article about their friendship when Madden passed away a few years back. John Madden's Lifelong Buddy John Robinson Sad to see these last links to a different and less corporate era of football pass away. RIP Coach.
dollars 2 donuts
I don’t mean this sarcastically and I don’t mean any disrespect, but I honestly thought he passed awhile ago, for some reason about ten years or so. This makes this a double shame as I liked him quite a bit growing up for both USC and the Rams and also felt like an opportunity was missed to appreciate the guy while he was here when I already thought he was gone. One of the last of the old coaches of college ball.

There was always a sense that he inherited a total powerhouse and all the recruiting that came with that.
