I wish Cover 1 film would break down some bad plays from Allen as well

Just some balance and giving us some insight on what Spagnuolo is studying tonight.

Erik's comment on Allen's second INT in the comment section is that Moore saw that one in the very pass play of the game. That's also why you rarely see OC calling the same play twice in a game, and if they do, usually with different personnel grouping and variations.

The Cover 1 guys know if they want more subscribers they gotta' wash balls.   Also helps them possibly get more access from the team in the future.   So they are going to focus on the positive.   The key is doing that without alienating the more critical crowd by making nonsense excuses for failure.

But I heard Shill Carpaccio on WGR this am and the callers are really getting sick of his over-the-top ball washing.   Some dude with a heavy Indian accent called in demanding over and over that Shill be honest before he answers his question.   Then the next caller was disgusted by Shill's constant organizational apologizing.    It was hilarious listening to him realizing that HIS particular audience is sick of being bullish!tted and talked down to while he endeavors to stay in the best grace's of the team above all else.

Joe Marino breaks them down

His breakdown was

1st INT -  A defensive player tugged on his left arm during the throw causing the ball to be underthrown.

2nd INT -  The CB did a freelance, something that they don't normally do.  But he is a great slot corner.

Yesterday am in the 11 am hour.   It was amusing.   Shill was brought up on Chuck Dickerson and Art Wander saying anything they felt in the moment about the organization because there were no consequences for criticism.   So the WGR listeners really embraced him and his potential early on.  But over time his "what the fans don't understand" shtick gets old with a listener base which is full of people who are organizational skeptical or hate-listening to hear the organization skeptics.   The people who  don't want to risk hearing anything negative know to listen only to podcasts and the Bills sanctioned 1-3pm show with actual full-time Bills employees Brown and Tasker.   Shill has himself between a rock and a hard place.

What's worse is Sal actually does know football. This isn't Joe B who frankly wouldn't spot an X or an O if they punched him in the mouth, Sal actually understands the game much better than the guys he is on with. I don't listen to his own show though because the homerism is off the scale. I don't mind him so much on the breakfast and afternoon shows because I think Jeremy and Mike especially actually debate him pretty well. But even then there are ridiculous narratives like the classic "wide receivers don't matter, pass catchers do" from last summer that he just trots out relentlessly.

Yep.

Joe Marino also threw his hat in the ring recently with his gaslighting about the defense intentionally inviting teams to run the ball all they want.   Then come to find out McD had the entire defense practicing block-shedding last week.   Yeah, OK Joe.  These content providers need to stay in their lanes.   No NFL team is ok with allowing 150 yards rushing.  When that happens, something isn't working as planned.

Yeah,  he should easily be able to host a 3 hour show every day and be WGR's lead man.   But he can't even hold up a proper 1-2 hour segment because you can't get into depth unless you are willing to keep it real.   It's ruined him as a host.   And for what?   It's not like the sideline gig has yielded him great access to the team or it's players.   Sideline girls usually end up with sit down interviews that help propel them to better gigs.  Maybe he thinks he ends up in the booth but I don't know if people want to hear his munchkin land voice doing play-by-play and they will always want the color guy being a former player.   It's just perplexing to me what he's trying to accomplish.

But for short bursts as the homer view opposite of White and Schopp it still works.

That's so mis-interpreted off Taron's comment that "we want them to run." My interpretation is that we (the Bills) would line up to sway the Dolphins play selection towards run plays, BECAUSE we think we can stop their run plays better than their pass plays.

The actual result is we allowed them to achieve the same result in running plays (vs pass plays). Thank God for the offense being able to match up to Dolphins and we came away with a win on the leg of a 61 yard field goal. It is NOT a sustainable approach.

I normally agree with your takes, but today I am feeling attacked.  Since when is basic hygiene such a bad thing?!  Maybe its time I take my meager football knowledge, arsenal of phallic humor, and sparklingly clean testicles elsewhere?

The Bills want teams to run on them in that they are never going to prioritise scheming to stop it. They don't want to be terrible playing the run, that's the difference. They want the front 7 to be able to keep the run game in check. I don't think games like this past Sunday at Indy bother McDermott that much where they give up one big run but otherwise hold Taylor to 2 yards per carry. The Fins game where every run feels like it is 5 or 6 yards that bothers him more because this defense is about putting you in disadvantageous third downs situations and when they can't do that their playbook on that side shrinks significantly.

Isn't he kind of employed by the team in some way? I think that's why he won't go there

Yeah, that was a bit over the top, surprised anyone fell for that,

Allen literally got Dalton Kincaid injured. I’ve learned posting stuff like that doesn’t go over well.

Agreed. Josh is very scarce for putting his guys in harms way but man, how you can’t put the blame on him there is wild. Unintentional of course but still to blame.

Yeah, I interpret it as they're cool with letting the offense try and get a 4 or 5 yard run and get a first down at or near the sticks, because eventually one of those runs is going to be stopped and they'll be behind the chains.

Then good luck being able diagnose the coverage presnap and getting the ball out on time and to the right receiver in a clear passing situation when they need to get the ball into the second level with the defense set up to prevent a catch short of the sticks getting the yac needed for a first and taking away the deep ball.

I think it's they don't care much about giving up first downs on 2nd and 5 for example, because they would rather have a chance to get you into 2nd and 12 and then best of luck

Yes, he is the Buffalo Bills radio network game day sideline reporter.   Most often a job held by a female media member and then normally that job includes a bunch of other media work for the team.   But Maddy Glab gets all of that work.    So it's a "piece of a job" as they say on the street.
