Just not sure that's ever good strategy. Well I actually think you can possibly get creative there. I do not want teams to run over us in small boxes. The physical teams get the upper hand on us that way. Our strategy isn’t working. So I’m good with trying something else. I feel like you can create a single high Safety situation where you take Hamlin off instead of Johnson…the pieces are there I haven’t worked it all out yet 1

We should have a three LB and 5dline package against heavy sets, moving Taron to Damar's position. in a perfect world we would pull taron and demar to put in Rapp at that position because we have a qualified 3rd person or can move Elam to cover the middle. dude is fast enough he should be good at it but he's just not. If I was an OC and you do that I am licking my lips. Im telling my QB all week "you see Dodson out there and Johnson off the field or playing as a safety? Just audible to a pass play and get a matchup you like on Dodson then throw there." 1 1
Rigotz
Anybody in this thread doubting whether we should bring him back for $1M'ish either has a very short memory or doesn't know ball. When the Bills lost to the Chiefs in the playoffs last year, wouldn't you have loved quality LB depth to call up from the Practice Squad rather than singing AJ Klein fresh off his couch? Bernard, Milano, and Spector all have significant injury concerns. There is no reason not to sign Dodson if he's available for cheap. 5 10 1

To be honest, I'd prefer a 3 DT set with two DE's against heavy packages. Similar to what the Bills did against the 49ers in 2020. I'm not worried about the #2 or #3 TE beating us in the pass game when playing great tun teams like the Ravens and 9ers. But against the Chiefs, probably best to stay in nickel and invite them to run. 1

I'd use Dorian Williams on the edge as they did Tremaine that night and play a Bear front. Otherwise I'd just play my defense, try and execute my fundamentals better and stay patient. Everyone's attention is on the Henry run but it should equally be on the subsequent two drives when the Bills took Cam Lewis (subbing for the injured Johnson) out and brought Morrow in to play traditional 43 base and the Ravens destroyed us by getting Justice Hill matched up on Nicholas Morrow and throwing little catch and run patterns to him. That was a mistake by Babich, and I doubt he repeats it. Especially if the guy he would be faced with subbing out to do that is Taron Johnson. 3
JP51
This seems like a no brainer to me if you are down an LB. He knows the system and can step in.
davefan66
I’d sign him if we could for sure. Feel he is a fit for this system and would do well with us. Interesting how many defensive guys leave the team and are subpar outside of McD’s system. Not sure the issue with him in Seattle was but he has 41 solo tackles with 30 assists and 2 sacks. Not sure why he wasn’t a fit there.

As @GunnerBill noted that really suited Edmunds.....maybe my favorite game of his as a Bill.........and Dorian Williams might take to the role.

machine gun kelly
Guys, I’m all for bringing back Dodson, amd would be great depth for Milano/Bernard as Milano will have his window ending for the SF game so he will be active. Dorian Williams is also a natural Will depth for the team. With that said we have $70 mil. In dead cap, and only $1.48 mil. In cap space. This is why I stated in a previous post to the vet minimum as Beane does not want to kick the can down the road again. If Beane can figure it out, sounds great and having a deep LB group is great. We can’t invent cap and it is real. We want enough to extend a bunch of studs as GROOT, Douglas, and Benford’s extensions are coming. I’m sure I’ve forgotten someone. As far as Douglas at 30, he’s been just as effective as last year and not easily replaceable.
