Nope - if he is cut and clears waivers there is no contract.

If a team claimed him they would be on the hook for the money, but I highly doubt he gets claimed for that reason.

It is too much for a back-up player at LB At this time of year for most contenders and no reason for a non-contender to bother with his age.

I would expect once he clears the Bills talk to him after the Chiefs game and he gets signed for the minimum as needed.

So you disagreed with me cause I answered the question on how much he’d be owed if claimed and then quoted me about him passing through waivers. That wasn’t the point smh lol

He's a vested veteran he shouldn't have to clear waivers

He has four accrued seasons

Are you sure? Ngakoue was claimed by Pats from waivers afaik and he certainly has 4+ seasons.

Edit: Oh I see that you already corrected yourself, so nevermind :)

I forgot that post deadline vested veterans are also required

Basically to stop them from forcing their release and just signing with a playoff team

He had a previous 6 game suspension for domestic violence. Maybe they know something else is on the way?  I would assume it would be a substantial suspension if so.

When I saw the thread title I just asked myself “why would they cut their most productive linebacker?”

He’s not their most productive linebacker but their most productive defensive player next to their FS Julian Love.

I absolutely agree with you. Something has to be coming that they are privy to. Doesn’t make sense otherwise.

Will Dodson getting cut now affect how he fits into our comp pick formula next year? Over the cap had his contract cancelling out Samuels contract

Oof. Yeah, I hadn't thought about that. Yeah, i'd think him being cut and not playing the whole year will effect that. That sucks. Hell, we went from a 3rd to a 4th on Edmunds because he missed a little bit of playing time. I don't know how them cutting him midseason won't effect the pick.

I think you nailed it.  Isn't Week 10 relevant to that analysis?  And didn't we do the same thing (maybe with Andre Holmes?) a few years ago?
