Offensive holding

The Bills have not had an offensive holding call in their favor (i.e. called against the opponent’s offense) in the past 2 games.  Will the stripes flag KC for holding next week (or Jawaan Taylor, for his repeated false starts)?

KC had more Offensive holding penalties last year than any team.  This year they are tied for 4th, Bills are 10th.  Conversely, both the Bills and the Chiefs have been the beneficiary of the same number of calls for them.

Offenses like KC's feast on bend but don't break defenses like the Bills. You'd think the Bills would have learned that by now. Think how much time Geno Smith, Tua, and Flacco had in the pocket and imagine Mahomes back there instead. First, he can throw it more accurately than those three; second, he can run better (albeit like a constipated duck); and three, the refs will bail him out if need be. So no sacks, no holding calls, and no punts in critical situations, since there's always DPI and roughing the passer. Playing downhill isn't a panacea, but it helps with the first two. And if they get to him fast,  the refs might not have enough time to think of a penalty. (I think they sometimes throw the flag and think of a penalty afterwards.)

As for DPI, KC has been the beneficiary on only 3 calls (Bills had 6).    For roughing the passer, KC has been the beneficiary of 3 calls (Bills 3).

Mahomes has been sacked 20 times already (Josh 13).

Thanks, but facts get in the way of my prejudices so I tend to ignore them. 😃

To be clear, I'm not saying KC always get the calls, just that they get them in critical moments. For example, if it was KC kicking that field goal yesterday and Denver blocking it, a Denver player would have been flagged for being Offside. (I'll let confirmation bias take it from here.)

Which crews are good these days?

Honest question. I’m trying to think of a referee crew I can tolerate in the modern NFL and drawing a blank. 😅

In the past I would  have said someone like Gene Steratore. Right now it would probably be Bill Vinovich.

With Taylor illegally lined up a lot, I have some questions.

Is he really lined up illegally?

Why don't the coaches on other teams say something?

If coaches do go to the refs and say something, then are the Refs just saying "screw you the NFL is fixed and KC is our chosen one"?

Cant teams quietly petition the NFL to look into all of his uncalled false starts and lining up incorrectly?

I know some of this sounds sarcastic but, I just feel like if I buy into the "fixed narrative" then I'm simple minded, but if I don't question it then "I have blinders on".

Can we get that same crew from the indy game.  Would like to see if they ever decide to throw a flag on Jawaan Taylor.

Yeah and maybe they could have Jordan Phillips could reign down haymakers on Mahomes with no penalty.

JaWaan Taylor was the most penalized player in the NFL last year (by far!). I'm sure he's just cleaned up his act this year and stopped false starting every play and lining up 5 yards into the backfield.

We will have to beat KC so convincingly there is nothing they can do to counter it, it’s already going to be a tuff game without the zebras 🦓 imposing themselves.

Two things I can never understand:

1) Offensive holding calls against Bills vs calls against their opponents and...
2) Kicker success FG rates against the the Bills (notwithstanding the snake bitten Jets).

Seems like every game the Bills need to be better than their opponent by a wide enough margin to account for guaranteed imbalance in calls and guaranteed late FGs by their opponents. It's a testament to how often they've outplayed their opponents that these are both true this year and they are still 8-2!

Replays of bad calls are making me want to listen to game on the radio rather than watch it on TV, ignorance is bliss.

My eyes see Ed Oliver getting held often but he never gets the call...or the sack

I see this too and I see Ed getting fed up with it

Von gets a killer rush here, until he gets dragged down by the right shoulder by the guy he was trampling. That’s one way to open the passing lane.

That 2nd play not having a flag is inexcusable

Our Oline should go out there wearing red gloves, make them work to see anything.

This is SO Belichick-ian.
