BillMafia716ix Posted November 11 Posted November 11 McCarthy got served a pretty crappy roster this year by Jerry’s doing. He’ll be a good coach somewhere else. I could see him going to Chicago next yr. Quote

Not bad honestly Also, Today was McCarthy's birthday. Ouch Quote

Its not unheard of for him Funny enough, I dont think McCarthy is the problem there. They are built like a kid collecting cool named players. Thats on the GM Agreed, at least in part, as McCarthy is likely not a championship caliber coach either. Said the same kind of thing on here, that he chooses personnel like a kid playing a video game, with the big names, stars, flashy players. They bring him the attention he craves. Now it is a different kind of attention. But I have pointed out that when things start going south, this year and last, and overall, he always is sure to let people know it is NOT the personnel, but something else, so, not HIM. But just look at his teams, whether they look close (to some) or like this year, and the players cannot cut it. And he brings in past their prime coaches, as they seem to be the ones who are willing to put up with the huge obstacles in Dallas to get a job. Young, sharp, upcoming coaches stay away, know better. And jones does not want coaches who would speak the truth--or want more say. Hence, McCarthy, Zimmer. Maybe he will bring in Norv Turner next year, for another go round? 1 minute ago, Captain Hindsight said: Hes 45-30 as Dallas's coach. Dak has missed nearly 20 games in that time. Can you imagine how free and fixed he is going to feel to no longer be under the thumb--and getting thrown under the bus--of jerry jones? 2 Quote
CowgirlsFan Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Nope! He has always said he regrets firing any coach/ mana during the season and he won't this time. 1 Quote
FireChans Posted November 11 Posted November 11 I find the obsession with the Cowboys very odd. They won 12 games the last 3 seasons. 2 division titles in that span. They had a little bit of talent erosion, as all teams do, had a down year and their QB got hurt. trying to pain their last 4 years as some kind of systemic failure of Jerry Jones is really just entirely inaccurate. 1 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted November 11 Posted November 11 10 hours ago, Mister Defense said: A very good point, one I had not really considered: today we see another fatal flaw in his team, a very poor back up quarterback situation too. And with the lack of offensive play makers, running backs and receivers, and ditto for the defensive personnel, today he embarrassed himself even more. He knows full well that tomorrow the criticism of the very poor depth at quarterback will grow louder and louder. Prescott is out for the year, and what we saw today may be what we see for the rest of the year. Yikes. He had two days to get someone else in here, knowing that Prescott may be lost for the year. But he ignored that in the same way he simply ignored their player needs in the off season. The sutff is likely to really hit the fan for jones--and he has not been handling it very well lately. Glass houses my friend. Bills backup QB situation is far worse 1 Quote
MikePJ76 Posted November 11 Posted November 11 No. there is no reason to fire him. The whole coaching staff are on expiring contracts. the only thing that might happen is McCarthy gives up play calling when they switch to lance full time at qb. Schottenheimer will probably take over at some point. Jerry is cheap and has openly stated many times he doesn’t want to pay money to coaches who are not on the staff. It’s also the reason they won’t hire one of the top coaches available next year. 10 hours ago, DCofNC said: Who would they get that would be good enough to keep them “competitive”. Today should have been an audition for Lance in the 2nd half, he’s the only one with tools to even be a legitimate QB on that team, even though he’s looked pretty awful in every opportunity, there’s no time like the present to try to get him some time. If he’s good, you have a trade-able asset for the draft next year. Lance does not have a contract for next year. He is a free agent, just like all the coaches. so no trading lance in the offseason. gregmo Posted November 11 Posted November 11 I moved to DFW during the SB 28 season (and still hate it here, but jobs are good and living is fairly cheap) - a few thoughts. I was in college during half of the SB appearances. I still love it every time the Cowpokes lose. I don't hear "Boy I Love Losing Superbowls" anymore when I wear Bills gear; but that could be a generational thing or people don't want to poke the bear. The only reason Dallas had a good team in the early 90's was because of Jimmy Johnson and lucky drafting/trades. Switzer inherited a good team and got that 3rd SB. Jones wants all the glory and a "yes-man"; likely why Johnson was dumped. Dallas will never be good in his remaining lifetime unless he goes hands-off. Bringing in Bill "defense wins superbowls" Parcells was a fantastic idea (along with Keyshawn, though I kinda liked him). I found Keyshawn jerseys for $5 at a sidewalk sale. Giving Prescott that extension was crazy - sure, he puts up numbers but just doesn't have the "IT" factor. Romo was more fun to watch. Quote

Since it opened the reports of the bad views from many of the far away seats means people often spend the game watching the huge monitors rather than trying to figure out what is happening on the field. And because the fans sit so far from the field, because of how it is designed, there is usually not much of a home field advantage there. Yes, they have often beat up on the bad teams there, but rarely come through now when the good teams come to jerry’s dysfunctional stadium. Instead, people have said it caters to the elite, to the corporate--and to jones’ ego. I have said the same kind of thing on here, that it a soulless place, one devoid of character or football atmosphere—so, the house that jerry built is often like his teams. To me it reflects the kind of teams and team atmosphere he has increasingly built over the years. And that is truer today than ever. 1 Quote
Sweats Posted November 11 Posted November 11 The "Boys" are coming into a rebuild but don't want to admit it. I think they've taken a page out of the Bills book by locking up some key players and hoping they could just reload the rest......and as you can see, it ain't working. In the offseason, things are going to get real interesting in "Jerry Land". They'll have to seriously consider parting ways with the HC, the GM, re-evaluate their spending with Dak now locked up (he's not very good, by the way),etc. 1 Quote

You cannot really believe that? I cannot imagine anyone who has watched all four quarterbacks play would rather have Trey Lance and Cooper Rush than Mitchell Trubinsky, a former Pro Bowler, and Mike White. 2 Quote

McCarthy should have been out last year. Surprising he got another go. Won’t be surprising that he’s gone. Monday or the end of the season, he’s out the door. That is true in a sense because Jerry Jones is the GM. 1 1 Quote
