I will say, having this game late in the season, and already having 8 wins in 10 games is a big relief if we lose. Last year we NEEDED this game to have a shot at the playoffs. This year, we are really only likely NEED this game for a hope at the 1 seed. Even with a loss, the 2 seed is still very much in play considering Pitt/Balt and Houston's schedules. Kind of nice.

 

With that said, I hope we wreck them!

Not saying that you're wrong. It's probably the case here, but even so that makes me question the refs and the NFL even more. That would mean that they actually chose to allow a team or a player an advantage. Maybe that player or that team would stop committing these penalties if they in fact did call them every single time. It's pretty blatant. Also if that's the case, every team should have their guy or two who they designate to and illegal advantage since the refs won't call it every single time. It's a slippery slop and if the league isn't going to call it then other teams should get on board their sleds and slide down with KC and Taylor.

They should have gone with "The Chiefdom"...that's a real term...basically an area ruled or controlled by a chief.

Have to get used to it though because after next year it will be the norm in the new place when 50% of the fans will be visiting teams fans.

Exactly. Now with the PSL's, the investment in season tickets is greater and the likelihood of season ticket holders selling to visiting fans is only gonna increase.

Offense is pretty beat up. Will McD give in and switch it up this week with some exotic blitzes, press coverages at the line, or bracket coverages to take away Kelse?  

 

It wouldn't make sense for McDermott to unveil anything in this game if he wants to maintain the advantage of secrecy in the playoffs. The Bills should be biting the bullet and playing vanilla in this one.

My fear is that it’s too much to overcome. I hope I’m wrong. Don’t want Josh to start having to revert back to hero ball. No doubt he’ll make some plays regardless though.  That Chiefs D is winning them games..

 

Again, this is not a win-at-all costs game. A loss by either team is unlikely to have much impact on their playoff seedings.

 

And how great would it be for the Bills to be shorthanded for this game and still win with a no-frills game plan?

The tricky part is, the NFL IS entertainment. While the NFL wants to maintain the integrity of the sport, they have to balance the "watchability" of the product. If they called penalties on every play (because on judgement calls there probably could be a holding call on every play) it would be unbearable to sit through a game. The hard part is that, if you have players that routinely bend the rules, you just have to hope that if/when the refs get around to calling it, they don't do it on a "key" play. It's kind of playing with fire, but seems to have been working for the Chiefs and other teams over the years (Seattle's secondary during their SB years)

On things like what Taylor is doing you warn him first - right off the bat - and say if you keep doing it we're going to throw the flag.  And when he does it throw the flag and tell him - if you keep doing it we'll just keep throwing it - tell Reid too.  Set the precedent/expectation.  If they keep doing it they deserve to get a flag every play.  Not calling it is what makes it unbearable

I agree 100%. I would love to know what the refs actually do (i.e. are they telling the coaches/players and warning them?). It is so blatantly obvious that Taylor jumps a full beat early 99% of every play.

great point, and Romo/Nantz mentioned Toney did not even look in the ref's direction to get confirmation he was lined up correctly.  Stupid on his part after he was given a heads up.

Yeah, and a lot of people look at the yellow line and say he was only a few inches offside.  In fact, he is a few inches inside the DEFENSIVE zone.  He is completely striding across the neutral zone.  After the game, the official commented that he felt he had to call it because Toney was so far offside that he couldn't see if other players were offside because Toney blocked the view of the entire neutral zone.
