Week 11 - Chiefs at Bills Game Week Thread

Offensively, the Chiefs are not putting up crazy numbers -- but they are just finding ways to get it done. Mahomes has only eclipsed the 300-yard mark as a passer once, and he has only accounted for as many as three TDs (combined passing/rushing) once on the season. As a team they have only one 100-yard WR performance on the season (JuJu) and two 100-yard rushing days (both Hunt) -- and it took 27 carries in each of those games to eclipse the century mark.

Kelce has been his usual reliable self though -- and he has really started heating up coming into this game with three straight strong performances.

But... the Chiefs have had their own issues defending AGAINST opposing tight ends. The following guys have all racked up at least 50 yards and/or scored a TD against them: Isaiah Likely, Mike Gisicki, Kyle Pitts, Foster Moreau, George Kittle, Brock Bowers, and Cade Orton. It's a shame that Kincaid looks like he will be out -- but this could be a big spot for Knox, who has had some success against the Chiefs in the past. Knox could be a nice, cheap play in DFS this week!

Quinton Morris hasn't had many opportunities, but he has been dependable when called upon. Wouldn't be surprised to see him make some plays if Kincaid can't go.

This is a game I am hopeful that we win, but I also thing the potential exists for us to get boat-raced.

Your statement is fair, but I think equal potential exists for the CHIEFS to get boat-raced.

The Bills have won 21 of their last 23 matchups at home. They're also 3-1 vs the Chiefs in the regular season. They've scored 30 or more points in four straight games. The Bills are ranked seven spots higher in offensive PPG and four spots lower in defensive PPG allowed. The Chiefs have been barely winning games against bad teams, while the Bills have -- more often than not -- beat bad teams handily.

Due to our injuries on offense and, well, the Chiefs being the Chiefs, it won't surprise me in the least if they whoop the Bills. But it also won't surprise me in the least if the Bills whoop the Chiefs. In the end, what I actually EXPECT to happen is what usually happens when these two teams play: a close, back-and-forth, one score game, where the last team with the ball likely wins it.

No chance this game lives up to the hype with how much CBS is promoting it. These teams are much different than years past. Good chance this ends up being a relatively boring defensive battle, especially with the injuries we have on offense.

So how he does this season has zero correlation to how his career will go? I don't agree with that.

Kincaid looks like he has 800-900 yards in him. But do I expect 1,300 yards and 13 yards/reception? No. Can he get to 11 ypc? I think so in his best years.

It's been a steady diet of 10 ypc, 35-40 ypg across 26 games. He's on pace for 605 yards this year in 17 games.

I disagreed with Joe Marino at the end of 2023 when he said he wanted Dalton Kincaid to lead the team in receiving targets.

We've seen 10-games of the 2024 offense, when has this team leaned on Kincaid to be their best receiver?

I think he's a good player, happy they drafted him, but the fit with Knox already here has always been muddy, so they have him in a role where he's slotted correctly - behind Coleman, Cooper and Shakir - picking up first downs as an outlet.

That's my read on Kincaid - smooth athlete with the ball in his hands, has some wiggle, good feel for zones and pockets. Not exceptionally fast or powerful.

largely agree w this on Kincaid

but he is leading the team in targets rn

I agree with you--either are possible. I think back to when we did boat-race them, the game with the two long TDs to Knox, as an example of where we just crushed their spirits. Would LOVE to see something like that again. But with our top 2 WRs out and Kincaid hurting, it feels less likely than a close game or it going the other way.

Josh Allen is the best at providing the opposite of Bulletin Board material for the next opponent. He is always full of compliments--whether they deserve it or not.

From the Mark Gaughan article on the TBD news page:

“I think they do a great job of switching the looks that they’re giving,” Allen said Wednesday. “Obviously, we know about Chris Jones. He’s a game-wrecker, one of the best, if not the best, interior D-linemen in the game right now. You pair that up with some of their DBs and linebackers, they’re flying all over the field. They’ve got guys that are really gap sound in the run game as well. We’re going to have our hands full. This is a very good unit we’re going to face.”’

Heh. You can't blow air up their arse any better than that.

Given the injuries to Cooper, Coleman, and Kincaid, I think the Bills are at a real disadvantage in this game and the Chiefs ought to be favored.

For me the only thing I need to see is if we can be competitive with the Chiefs. I can live with losing in the regular season to them. Can the offense move the ball against a very good Chiefs D and can the defense limit the run and come up with some timely turnovers. If guys aren't 100% healthy don't put them out there as this game won't make or break our season. Whatever playoff scenario has us where we don't have to go through both KC and Baltimore to reach the Super Bowl is the preferred outcome.

I actually want them to be in a situation where they can rest all their starters in Week 18…. Give them a chance to get over the inevitable bumps a lot will be carrying and be fresh for the playoff campaign …

Last year they were fighting for their lives to make the playoffs in Week 18…guys got injured in that game and the WC game and they were then at a big disadvantage against the Chiefs …

This is part of what I meant, I just care about health and with put division being so bad we should have it wrapped by week 14.

I can see, if a couple of things go wrong, the Bills could spiral into getting beaten badly in this game. I hope I'm wrong but if I were betting I'd bet the Chiefs.

Didn't the chiefs lose to basically every good team they played last year and then went and won 3 games in a row and were champions?

Yes they did. KC has proven that they can do it. Bills? Not so much. That’s why there’s still doubt nationally.
