The Bye Can't Come Soon Enough...Rest and Fix Some Things

At this stage with injuries and a competitive AFC, glad to get a win.

The bye week can't come soon enough with the injuries, nicks, and bruises, and some  erratic play that needs some fine tuning.

KC will be a good measuring stick before some recovery time and coaching and player adjustments.

Hopeful Things

1. Getting Coleman, Cooper, and Defense more healthy

2. Stacking wins even when the team ebbs and flows

Things that Need Work

1. Clean UpPenalties...especially on the offensive line. There was one drive where the Bills had like 3 penalties (Torrence, Knox, and another player)

2. Fortunately, Colts were down, but we gotta stop the run or at least be a middle of the park run defense. Any good running team is a tough matchup for us.

3. Brady and Allen need to rely on the run more.  About 7-10 more carries for Cook/Davis would have been better, especially when Allen is a little off. Allen left too many yards and more manageable first downs get away.

Resting up and some tweaks with play calling and reinforcing disciplined football can't come soon enough despite a gritty "W" today.

I counter with:

- Allen did not play well

- road game before chiefs week

- Colts are not a pushover..this was their first loss by more than one score

And the Bills still blew them out in the end. Was it a perfect game? Of course not. But that was an impressive win nonetheless.

Despite being down our two best receivers.

They did shut down the run in the second half.

Taylor had 5 carries for 7 yards in the second half.

Outside of the 59 yard run they did pretty well. Hamlin with a really bad angle...that should have been a 7-8 yard run.

Need to have a 10 point lead at the two minute warning. Somehow someway.

Because if it's within one scoe, you know who is getting the calls.

But in reality, I don't think this game is critical for the number one seed. We will probably lose one more game after this. Even with a win.

It's critical for seeds 2-4.

Just runs deep and maybe doesn’t block

just a guess his routes are very easy to defend again but yes I thought same thing like where was this

Josh missed him deep in week 1 and 2. Was wide open. I said at the time they made the Cooper trade, I would have kept MVS and got rid of Gilliam to carry an extra WR. Was never going to happen. If Bernard was healthy they may have tried to cut a useless linebacker and keep an extra WR. But that was unlikely with Bernard still injured or just back from injury.

30 points

on the road in a stadium we haven’t won in since flutie.

minus our top 2 big play WRs.

down our TE1 due to injury in the 2nd half

2 terrible interceptions by our QB.

Won by 2 scores.  Should’ve been 3.

2nd half defense continues to impress.

Wish the offense was more efficient but at the end of the day, it’s just another check in the bedpost

Presnap penalties have been a problem all year. That’s a problem with coaching. The run percentage is misleading. Those screens to Shakir and Samuel are essentially run plays and those are potentially chunk plays the way Shakir slices and dices the defense. Our defense gets gashed for big runs one or two times every game, but they hold teams to FGs and that wins games. We were without our two leading receivers and Josh still threw for 280 and got Knox, Samuel and Hollins involved. Kincaid, Coleman and Cooper should sit out the Chiefs game and get healthy for the last 6 games. I think we can beat KC in KC if healthy, so winning next week would be nice but not worth exposing these players to extended absence.

Meanwhile MVS had 3 catches for 2 TDs and over 100 yards.  How could the Bills not make something of that guy?

Inevitably bad take. Someone was going to have it… might as well get it out of the way.
I’ll be surprised if MVS has another TD the rest of the season for a terrible Saints team. No one has been able to get consistent production from him. That’s why he has bounced around the league.

He was quite consistent with the Bills. Consistently invisible. But it would be nice to have MVS instead of Shavers and “Virge” running routes.
