Yeah his rushing TDs have lessened and if we keep the running game solid with good blocking it will likely continue to be the case. He's still an x-factor there so you can never count him out but they aren't going to just keep slamming him into the line over and over anymore.

It's crazy when you really think about it. Only 9 behind Thurman, as a QB, mid-way through his 7th year?

 

I think this is something that a lot of the media and fans outside of Buffalo overlook with Josh. They all know he can run, but they seem to ignore his rushing yards and rushing TDs when adding everything up (as far as ranking QBs or whatever).

 

He's 2nd All-time for QBs in rushing TDs, 18 behind Newton. [He has 26 more rushing TDs than Lamar Jackson, btw.] Josh has played 103 games and has 56 rushing TDs. Cam had 52 rushing TDs in his first 103 games. (Josh also has 34 more passing TDs than Cam did after 103 games). Thurm had 54 rushing TDs after 103 games (granted he also had 18 receiving TDs at that point in his career). O.J. had 55 rushing TDs (12 receiving TDs) after 103 games. 

 

*Jalen Hurts did just score his 50th rushing TD in just his 71st game. So he and Josh will be vying against each other for Cam's record. Josh had 36 rushing TDs after 71 games (to Hurts' 50), but Josh also had 49 more passing TDs than Hurts after 71 games.

 

So, Hurts may end up with the record in the long run, but the fact that Josh is right there with Newton and Hurts, while at the same time throwing so many more TD passes than either of them, is really impressive.

There were years (I'm sure you remember) when Josh was our best RB.  Those were the years when he got most of his rushing TDs.  Now that the O line has come together, and we have three really good RBs, it's not Josh left, Josh up the middle, Josh right.

Good post.  Accurate in all ways except that Josh now has 57 rushing TDs.  

 

About OJ -- in his defense, he was completely wasted in his first couple years under John Rauch.  When Lou Saban came back with the clear plan to feature OJ (remember, Saban traded Haven Moses away for a much less capable WR, because Moses wouldn't block), that's when the OJ era finally came about.

They do conveniently ignore all his running TD's but each INT counts as 2. The league and the media are so insecure & terrified that Josh is anywhere near Lord Mahomes.

I wonder if Josh is discounted on that part of his game because he makes many of his rushing TDs look so easy.  For someone his size and strength, he is also freakishly fast and agile.  Yet Jalen Hurts gets a ton of glory because of 1 yard tush pushes and how much he can squat.
